ok I've had aluminum wheels for a long time and I've gotten spoiled in the fact that i dont strip wheels. but the aluminum wheels are heavy and I'm looking to get some plastics. the thing is i want the best hexes i can find so i run less of a risk of stripping wheels.

please comment about the hexes you run.

i currently run the stock .25 style hexes with the ribs on them but I'm looking at ether clamp on or these

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6031155356&fromMakeTrack=true

i like these better then the clamps. has anyone noticed any woble with the clamp hexes or is this sales pitch just bs?

are the clamps worth it? or should i stick with the stock ribbed ones?

thanks

Those hexes by ACNCM warped on me, making it very difficult to remove from the axle.

I run the ones you have and have never had a problem... but I've always ran t-maxx wheels until recently. I'm switching to maximizer beadlocks...

I have a set of maxx wheels/tires that have over 14 gallons of use on them. I put the savage away for winter and upon inspection, I noticed one of my wheels was cracked almost in half, but the hex is still fine... except for the big crack through it.

i have the clamp on ones. easily over 5-6 gallons on them and no signs of warp. more to the point, i'm running the same HB daqgger rims and no signs of warping or stress.

I haven't had any trouble out of the stock wheels, yet. I'm just running a ported .25 though.

Beason, have you thought about the 17mm hexes from the Savage X? Looks like they should fit. (They are including the 14mm hex's with them.) I know its not out yet. But maybe in a month or so?

yea i thought about that dig. but what wheels will fit? i dont want to switch hex size and cut my wheels choices way down.

I'm thinking of getting the ones i linked, there only a few bux or so more expencive then the stockers and there 6061 aluminum. I'm gonna be ont he lookout for those 17mm ones though!!

My Mammoth ST has the 17mm wheels. Not a pretty site.... Ofna has some 17's
Maybe with the "X" there will be some better choices in the near future?
