I'm getting ready to paint another body, and I want a rough tear to it. Problem is, the tape rips too clean, so I'm not getting the rough edge I'm looking for. Here's what I got on my welding helmet, but I want a rougher edge.

I do one of two things. If you're using liquid mask, draw the rough edge and just hack it with a knife. Don't worry about accuracy. Just cut it as jagged as you can.

If you're using tape, tear the tape up into small bits. Don't try to tear one whole edge. And I mean in like little half inch pieces. Then just stick the bits together along the tear line and you'll create a very jagged edge. Just make sure you really burnish the edges good so you don't get any bleed.
