I read somwhere of someone putting an OS 10E carb on a maxx 2.5, and was wondering if OS discontinued it? What they might have replaced it with? I had someone search E-Bay for me, since I am not a member, and they didn't have much luck.

Also, any other suggestions on an aftermarket carb for a 2.5?

You can still search on Ebay even if you are not a member, and why not sign up for Ebay? It's free. I think that OS still makes that carb. Check on www.towerhobbies.com for it.

I get pissed at E-bay. Too many people putting keywords like "not maxx," and such just to get thier item you don't even want on your search.

I haven't tried to buy new, because I hope to have an .18 soon. Just want to see if the 2.5 will hold a tune better with a differant carb.

i think you mean the OS 10D carb. i've heard nothing but great things about it and after ruining 3 stock carb bodies i finally ordered it. it should be here tomorrow and i cannot wait to try it out :D i got it from TowerHobbies.

I bought the os carb($60), installed it, bought an aftermarket head($60), installed it, still ran like crap, still ran hot (>300).

I wouldn't waste my money if I were you. Take the money you will spend on it and put it towards the 18.

What 18 are you going with?

I think I bought the OS 10D Carb as opposed to the OS 10J Carb.

The 10J has a larger inner throat diameter.

Have you damaged the stock carb, or just getting tired of keeping it tuned?
I got an ACNCM monster cooling head for my 2.5, and my tuning problems were over. The stock carb is not the problem, it's the stock head. It's cast, instead of machined, and it's just too small. Everyone I run with has gotten better cooling heads and now have no more tuning issues. Go to the site, either ACNCM or American CNC Machining. $35.
The best investment I ever made in the Maxx.

I have an aftermarket cooling head. It is a Golden Horizon, and the over heating issues are over, but I still have to adjust the tuning several times in a bash session. Thought if I could find one cheap I woud try a better carb for awhile untill I save the $ for a .18. Probably the Sirio, but I haven't ruled out the Wasp.

The wasp is kind of weak IMHO. It's ok for me and what I do. I've converted mine to 2wd and it's a real blast. I have my savage when I want to go 4 wheeling. But honestly, I drive the little maxx more.

Maybe you should check out the epic 18. I was compareing the two, but money limited me quite a bit. I would have probably went with the epic though if I had the $. From what I've read, the sirio has issues. Apparently, they can be about as tempermental as the 2.5.

If I remeber right, the carb from an OS .12 TR is the right size. I wish someone would make an adapter that would let you use whatever carb you want, then you could put a bigger carb on it.
