i just bought a new hpi rs4-3 & all i have out of it is bad luck. for some reason i can't get the motor tuned right. it takes it over 1/2 a tank of fuel to warm up.i own 4 other cars even a regular rs4.they run fine.now i wanna try a different motor cause this 1 is going in the trash. i wanna try a good .12 since i just installed a 2 sp tranny.so what is a good motor for this car?

I'm not sure of the shaft on that engine, what kind of crankshaft is it?
How much money do you want to spend?

BTW a "motor" is the term used in an electric ride. An "engine" burns nitro. Sorry but I'm a bit anal when it comes to these things.

i'm not sure but i think it's the long shaft. i know this cause my regular rs4 uses the long shaft.

I have heard a lot of good thing about Fantoms, I will be picking one up for my RS4 3 SS when my 12R SS craps out. You can get fantoms with or without pullstarts, slide or ratary, side or rear exhaust so they can be used almost anywhere.

I would suggest a Mugen Mt.12.Your car takes a threaded crank and has a rotary carb. You would need a starter box to start it.That motor goes around $150.00

Id change over to an OS with a slide carb since its extremely ez to change to use a slide carb and the OS is a very reliable engine.
