hello,

i have a revo 3.3 and have not played with it for like a year now and i want to get it back running..my 3.3 traxxs motor is pretty much done for..i have a few questions..

1.whats a good motor to get for under 200$

2.I'm looking for a 21. motor that will drop in the stock revo engine mount if not show me what i need..?

3.so will i need to buy a new header for a 21. motor or my stock headers will work as in stock traxxas from 3.3 motor..?

4.will i have to buy new clucth/nut/gears..ect..for a 21. motor or my stock gears/clucth/nuts will work from my revo 3.3 just swap and blot on?

5.Picco .26 MAX with Pull Start PART #51224 will this work well..? and will my stock gear/clucth/nut..from my 3.3 is just a swap and bolt on..or i have to buy new clutch/gear/nut..

6.revo 3.3 motor life time plan a best way to go?

7. also what do you think of 3.3 revo motor good power or needs more kick to it?

You can get the new OS .21 TM if you aren't really limited by a budget. You get not only OS reliability but also full drop in capability. I think it comes with a new header.

picco 26. with pull start it that good? i assume I'm going to have to buy new headers/exhaust..thats what I'm looking at..speaking of headers/exhaust..whats better rear or side mounted exhaust? what do you recommand?

thanks

side exaust so u can get a big enough pipe put u will nedd a new motor mount

I liked side for bashing. With it stock, it was resting right behind the rear body mount, I was constantly bending headers or having the pipe get pulled off the header on bad landings. It also opens the door to many pipe variations vs the few expensive specific revo pipes.

Side mount forces you to mangle the body a bit though...

The OFNA .26 Picco T-Maxx engine uses the stock parts for the maxx (including header), according to Tower. It does require an alternate engine mount for the revo (or maxx which has it's own): 51531

if u get a side pipe in the end you will save money from not breaking headers lol

great..so 26. picco with pull start is my pick..now whats a good combo for headers/exhust? my tsasi dual exhaust wont work for this right? also the stock revo headers...I'm looking for a side mount exhaust..

also will this 26. picco motor hurt my gears or will handle this power?

thanks

Tell me about it... man, I went through 3 of them just by landing on my wheels from 6 foot+ high jumps. The 4th went on a bad rear landing. At $20+ a piece, I could have bought a side header and 2 decent pipes!

If you ditch reverse in favor for a FOC, that will help with gears. Keep a spare set of all other gears on hand. I blew out the two speed primary gear once while running a BB in my revo.

This header was known to work well for side exhaust revo's with stock engines or a 18TM, HPI Nitro MT header. Since the output port on the picco allows the user of the stock header, it should work for it as well.

As for a pipe, I'd maybe look at a jato 3.3 resonator single chamber or something similar. It has a larger output stinger than some other 1/10 pipes. I run it on my jato with a 18TM and it really opened that engine up compared to the associated RC10GT pipe I had on it.

I don't know the tsias pipe, but you may be able to finagle something.

oh yeah I'm not plaing to use my revers..can i just disconnect the link and push the rod for the revers back and tie it up? or best way is to remove the revers gear inside..but what gear? I'm not sure how it looks i might remove a gear that I'm not sure of..

thanks guys for your replys..

Get the froward only conversion just taking off the servo and gluing the arm in position will not help anything. And if u have some spare cash get the harden steel gears for you trany and diffs. other wise just don;t tighten your slipper clutch to much. and they love spur gears lol so get the steel ones.

Oh and a center diff might even help to save your gears a bit so all the power can be controlled front to back helping keep the wheels on the ground a bit better

You will want to remove the internal gears .Purchase a forward only kit and it will include instructions on the install.Looks a little intimmidating but once you crack it open its realy pretty simple.Traxxas states it will improve reliability and performance.

I would like to know how the Picco Maxx .26 and the OS .21 compare on the dyno. I have the Picco Maxx on a Maxx and its got plenty of go.The Picco has been great so far and I got it off ebay for under $200.00 shippeds brand new.I would also like to see the dyno sheet for TRX 3.3.

Anyone know where to find some dyno numbers on these engines?

i could look into putting them on a scaled dino but it would be off the crank shaft not the rear wheels

If you go with the center diff you don't need a forward only kit.get some 500,000 oil and repack it before install. They were coming with 100,000 but the front tire turn into pizza cutters real quick. With 500k it will wheelie on occasion off road but its not going flip over.I would think it would help with durability too.

i was thinking of getting an OS.21 for one of my Revos. I would like to know how the three engines compare as far as torque and HP curves and peak tq and hp.

I can tell you right now a os 21 is fast that the picc .28 because it has a better broad ban of power though out the rpm's. The picco puts more power to the ground quicker but has no top end in it.

ok so this is my list..so far

my futuba 2PL radio/reciver 2CH

26. picco with pull start

forward conversion..

not sure for headers/exhaust

as for steel gears weres a good place to buy what i need to handle the power..and what will you recoomand i replace?

thanks for advices

robinson steel gear conversion kit goes for 100 bux or so... check liquidrc.com

the one really great thing about traxxas is the engine replacment plan... 115 bux and you get a brand new 3.3!! save some money... put in all steel gearing... and play forever!
