Ok i have a Revo PLat. And as amazing as it is on the track I'm getting smoked in a drag race by some friends. Id like to set the truck up for drag racing for a week or to so. I need to regain my pride. I'm installing the wide ratio gears a 20 tooth pinion and a 34T spur. I'm also installing a Rb Modded lrp .28 big block. I need to put more power to the rear wheels. It seems the fronts ballon up and it sounds like theres some slipping going on. The slipper is locked so its not that. What can i do to improve its drag race performance.
I'm thinking its in the diff bias. Thanks

You want to spool up those diffs for drag racing. Next thing is to stiffen those rear shocks up as much as possible.

I personally prefer to use heavy diff oil like the 100k weight to do that just because it is easier on the drive line. It may be wise to put a bit lighter oil in the rear than the front so you have a rear power bias.

That seems like a great set up for an oval track or a track with a lot of long straights. But for drag racing you want to distribute power to both sides equally. You are only interested in the straight line. He mentioned that he was going to use this set up for the drag race just for a short period.

True he did say straight line.....but just be warned with the diffs locked.....drive ONLY on dirt. I put a diff locker in the rear of my T-Maxx....it was all good until I touched pavement, then the tranny shelled.

A RB modded LRP is going to rip that revo apart. That is a lot of engine, my buddy has one in a Savage. He has to be very careful with the throttle otherwise it breaks dogbones easily. It is a great engine though I fear it will be trouble in a Revo.
The front tires ballooning is due to the center diff. It is probably time to install some new 500K diff fluid in the center diff, or put a regular FOC kit in the tranny if all else fails. It eliminates the center diff. Do not even bother with spools in the diffs. Spools are for low speed rock crawlers.

Stiil working on Drag race revo plat.

Ok i decided to go with a new picco 26 red dot then i had RB mods work the engine over. I can tell you how nasty this motor is. I've gear the piss out of the thing 34 tooth spur 20 tooth pinion. As i feared the center diff is transfering all the power to the front wheels. Allthough it dont wheely it will not hook up. Teres just not enough weight in the front to put the power down. Id like to remove the center diff and give it a try. However id like to retain front and rear brakes for more stoping power. Sombody here said to install a regular FOC in the trans. Will a FOC kit come with all i need to remove the center diff.?????

Heavier diff oil in the center will help the center diff from distributing too much power to the front. However, it's still going to diff out a little unless you can get it to break traction at the rear some. line the inside of your tires with strapping tape to keep them from ballooning.
