RC Driving Style
44 years old and recently got the bug. Bought the RTR 3.3 Revo, and have managed to break in the engine w/o blowing it up, and sorta taught myself to drive. I now understand the difference between bashing and racing, and as a result "really tore up" the truck this afternoon. WFO, 2nd gear into a straight up curb. Both steering servo linkages, and a few parts I've yet to identify were destroyed. What's the best way to figure out all the damage? Should I get a parts diagram and hope I identify everything, or take it the the LHS and fill the percription filled out by them? Boy, I sure did get the "new" off it today !

check out the traxxas.com for the parts list.... it will show you a picture of the parts with numbers and what not

you should have a detailed parts list since you bought it new. look at the front end and see whats broken. every once in awhile you find something you didnt see AFTER youve been to the hobby shop...lol but it never hurts to tear it down first and then go to the hobby shop. traxxas does pretty good on their diagrams

Take a close look at the chassis while you're at it.. not sure if it's common but I know I had a head on smash with my TMAXX and bent it to oblivion.. that's a pretty deep teardown

Thanks, I am fearful that is what I've done. I hit the curb a "ton"

Chassis arent terribly expensive but it sux when you bend one cuz you have to transfer everything over from one to the other. it seems that if you hit it dead center, ie both front wheels hit first that it wouldnt have bent the chassis because thats the opposite direction of the reinforcing "bends" they put on the chassis. Let us know what you find...oh...pics are always fun to see :)

Please pot pics of the carnage. We love to see what good damage others are doing.

Thanks eveyone. I now know what the bulkhead looks like! (new and when broke into five pcs. Bought a replacement diff case just in case. Attempting to put back tomorrow, will try and get picks. 7 parts numbers and $66 so far.

Fixing your broken rig is proof that you had a good time. If your rc works when you put it away, it's a sign that you should go harder next time out! I'm not sure but, I think Traxxas is greek for "have plenty of spare parts on hand"

I don't know about breaking things every time out. Some of the newer rigs are so tough that you really have to be trying very hard. My little mERV gets flogged regularly on 3s and haven't broken anything yet.

Now you will find out how its all put together makes it easier to fix the next time.I would suggest if you would like to keep your wallet intact find a place to run without curbs.:p:

i think when you start out, it's not uncommon to break things. I know when I started, I got a little annoyed with myself because I kept breaking things. It's a good learning experience though

Amen, this was a simple matter of lack of driver experience. Having a hard time steering with my right hand,.............still lots to learn!

I got back into it at about your age. There is a bit of a learning curve but that's half of the fun.

I'm also fairly new to this game and around your age. Luckily the Revo is very easy to fix. I take a lot of pics of how things looked like before i disassemble them for reference (especially linkages). I also google images of the Revo for reference if a blow-up is not helping me.

But consider your Revo officially "broken" in. Now you won't have any fears of getting it a little dirty. :)

I went to a skate park for the first time on Saturday. I hit this steep ramp a little too fast. Shot about 10 feet straight into the air and landed on pavement. Only busted a knuckle. I wish i filmed it.

Ebay is probably the cheapest place to get stock replacement parts. People disassemble new Revos and sell parts super cheap.

Good luck!

If your left handed you can get a tx to suit your needs.:D:D

Look like my files are too large

open the pictures in paint, go to the image tab at the top, then go to stretch/skew and type in 50 in both boxes then save it. that typically works. if not you may have to go smaller but remember if you open the file you cut down by 50% you may need to type 75 in the next time as the picture has already been cut down by half
