Just got my alum. skid plate set in.. looks pretty sweet! We'll see how they hold up this weekend!

front, rear and center skid plate.. like 3 mm aluminum. along with servo skid..
the front, center, and rear fit like a glove.... the servo one not so much.. i had to dig for hardware and kind of re-engineer it somewhat.
it used the servo mounting screws and the ones supplied were too short. i had my "cnc man" machine a plate to mount it, since i have the forward only kit in it, and i don't need that huge servo mount...
 
They look nice, but they will not hold up. Flat aluminum bends easy and makes for a good "skid" plate, but not a good bumper plate. After a few hard impacts and you bend them back, they stress and crack after a few times.

The center one will hold up fine.

RC solutions makes front/rear skids out of spring steel. It bounces back pretty good and if you throw a rubber grommet behind it, you can pretty much hit a brick wall without damaging them.

Don't mean to be a downer, but I've ran aluminum skids before... not worth the money unless you don't really bash your truck.
 
I agree with Olds, unfortunitely they won't last, the aluminum ones will break eventually. I run 4mm titanium skids on my truck, and they take some serious abuse. Also as Olds mentioned, RC Soutions spring steel skids are very nice too, those will take a hell of a beating also.
 
they look good... and not quite a full blown "basher". still getting the hang of driving for now.. the mechanic part i got down pact...lol
they will do the job for now. they were cheap enough to be trial pieces. once i get driving down i'll look into other stuff......

I've seen the titanium ones rip bolts out of the bulkheads and chassis rails. A buddy of mine had some from new era. They were so stiff that they didn't really flex at all and just almost ripped his truck in half when he landed hard on the nose.

Made pretty sparks on the concrete though! ;) :flamer:
 
Looks pretty sweet I had those same ones on my t-maxx but I removed them do to the fact that they weighed it down and I just didn't like aluminum.
 
i say you go pull wheelies to see the sparks. or better yet go do that at night
 
i say thats a good idea.... but my truck won't lift the front end up.... bad gearing... 72T spur gear with I think a 18 or 19 CB......

I have had them on a few years now, no ripped bolts in anything. Maybe your friend had integy bulks! :p:
 
shhhhh... i have integy bulks ! lol
no problem yet... and i was jumping snow piles the last few days.. getting some good air too! and they are still holding up
 
you know what hitting a curb in a wheelie does. it breaks off the end of your stock skid plate. it makes sparks too
 
plastic makes sparks? lmao.. i'll have to try that lol
my son tried "grinding" with his nitro evader to make sparks... ended up with a bunch of broken front end parts.... hahaha
 
no the screws in the plastic. silly what has the world come to when plastic makes sparks

He had stock plastic bulks. Ripped the screws right out of the bulks. Then he upgraded to Great Assemblies 7075 bulks... and then it snapped the bolts off in his nice new bulkheads.
