This is the project that started it all for me, and the reason that I spend night after night looking at scale rigs, trying to find a chassis that I really like. I've alraedy begun collecting parts for a tuber.

I was thinking maybe a goat set up, but I don't know how brushless will handle mud and water. Or I was thinking of going with a m-tronics truck waterproof esc, and a 35 or 45 turn motor. But I am still up in the air until I do some more research on the goat

Every Novak esc that I have seen is very delicate when it comes to water but I don't know about the goat system. I'm running a LRP runner plus in my son's wheely king and it has been underwater many times for long periods with no problems at all but the bec is on the weak side....If you running more than the motor and steering servo it's not a good choice IMO....From what I have read the mtroniks is about the same.

I run a moped esc in my wheely king and it is tough as nails!!!!!!!! It does get the shakes when it gets wet but it has alway continued to work..splashing water doesn't bother it at all, it has to go under before it has trouble. It's well worth the money and at $30.00 it's not a big loss if it dies.

I'm anxious to see this rig on the trail!

I had thought about the LRP, but I have heard the reverse is terrible on it, and with the tuber being a bit heavier than say a wk or scorpion, I am worried it won't handle the job.

I really don't know what I'm gonna do yet, but I have plenty of other stuff to do to keep me busy till I decide how I want to power it.

One year one month and two weeks and it has a few scale parts (very nice BTW) nice wheels/tires and the chassis is powder coated.......Get off your lazy back side and get this thing going already

Trust me my friend, I have been working on it when time and $$$ allows. I have been on a huge job this summer for the school system here in NY, and my son has football 4 days a week, so life has gotten in the way of finishing this up, or doing anything else for that matter, I barely have time to take a crap, lol.

Anyway, here is some of what I have done since the last update...

Roll bar pads, full interior, with the dash set up for an illuminated gauge panel, I made a titanium tranny plate, I finally got the rings for my custom rims from EEM, unfortunately though I was not able to get them in the color I wanted yet so at the moment they are just silver, I'll need get them annod, and I still need to order 125 2x10mm hex screws to hold them on.

I am now trying to decide how I am going to power it. I want it to be able to go through any water or mud, I know novak stuff does not like water at all, so I was thinking maybe an m-tronics truck esc, but I am not sure. And I have no clue what motor I want to put in it.

I have been modifing some shocks for it as well, but I dont want to show what I have done with those until I have them finished and on the truck. But I still need a few losi xxxnt rear shocks to finish that.

I also need to make a few more links for it. Right now just to mock it up I used all thread, but no way will I be leaving that on there, I just did that to get the propper length measurement before making the links.

I really wish I had more time and money to finish it sooner, but I will NOT rush it, nor will I cut any corners. If I can't do something exactly how I want it done, it will wait until I can.

NCNitro, have you thought about running a Holmes Hobbies handwound 540 motor, like a 35 turn? This will give you better performance than the goat but wont fry as soon as it gets wet. Also, have you considered a Mamba Max ESC? The Mamba ESC's have a special coating on the circuit board that makes them water resistant, but Castle doesn't advertise them as water proof. A lot of guys have had really good luck with running them in their scalers and not smoking down when they get wet. The Holmes Hobbies cobalt motor is by far the best crawling motor on the market, but it might me too powerful for you, and it's got a long can about the size of a 550 motor, although not as big around.

This is the esc I have been considering. The Viper series are 100% waterproof, and the specs look pretty good.

As far as the Holmes motors, I really don't know much at all about them, I was thinking of going 35 turn for the tuber, so I'll have to look in to them.

When it comes to a project of such perfection, DON'T rush it. I just really enjoy seeing the pics every time you post them. It's your hand made fire extinguisher that prompted me to make scale accessories for the Ugly Truckling.

if you liked that fe wait till you see some of the other little things I have been working on, hell, I even made my own servo saver steering link .

And I WON'T rush it, I would rather wait and get exactly what I want than just slap ass it together.

And I must say, the trucking is by far one of the best looking pieces of crap I have ever seen!

BTW, heres a little something I just picked up for it. Unfortunitely I will have to make a new front grill guard and stinger since the one I made is for as TJ style grill, it looks a little off around the new aluminum YJ grill I just got from The Scale Shop (stangkillass @ Scale4x4rc). He did a sweet job on these grills, and is a great guy to deal with too.

Now I just have to find lights and turn signals to fit it properly.

Whoa! That's just plain slick. I have a feeling he's gonna' sell a lot of them.
Since the tabs are there and your tuber is painted on the outside, I'd go with Shoo Goo glue inside, rather than screws. Chances are you've already decided that.

Joe, the Holmes Hobbies motors are by FAR the best motors that I've found period. I haven't found another brush motor in a regular size can that's anywhere near John Robert's motors in quality. I believe in them so much, that if you want to try one, I'll send you one of my extra ones just to try. It's one of those items that is so nice and no one else makes them, that when he starts getting low on inventory, I start ordering them just to be sure I don't run out lol.

Picked up a few more pieces for the tuber. A package from Holmes Hobbies showed up today with a few goodies in it ...

So now I can get back to work on it. All I need now to finish it is to figure out what shocks I want to use, and pick up either a JR RS300 or RS310 receiver.
