Today I got my first experiance with a Savage X. All I can say is wow. I did have to fix it because the previous owner had broken it. It needed a new bulkhead and lower arm brace. This thing is SUPER bad. Puts a maxx to shame. The only thing is that there was a clicking noise when you stop. I can only assume it is the transmission shifting back to first. It was like you stop.. click... then off you go. I was really surprised at how well it handled. It is a lil top heavy and likes to flip but other then that I really liked it. The day ended when it stripped the spur gear. We were a little disappointed but we ended the day with the Revos. All and all it was a hot, good, day

Check all of your center drive cups. As the cups wear, the dog bone ears get caught in the rut, then bind, then break. Seems to be a inherent problem with the savage line... not sure if it's the design, size of the ears, size of the cups, angle of wear, metallurgy of the cups/dogbone ears or what. Doesn't seem to matter what I do, mine wear at a pretty decent rate. It seems every couple of gallons, new center cups are necessary for me.

Also, Depending on your brakes, could also be your brake disks are getting worn. Only had that issue with the metal brakes on the savage.

Nice thats good! I also had a little better day with my savage, seemed to run a bit better since i sealed the carb to the motor. but then again i never let it stall out i went through 2 tanks of fuel and the 2nd one i added while it was idling.
