Hi...I'm new to this and recently purchased a Traxxas Revo with a Mach 28 engine. No pull start just bump start.....took it apart...cleaned it. new hoses/fuel line, clutch bearings as its been stood for a while. This bump start really annoys me as i cnt get the rubber on the Flywheel! the power start eventually paked up. now have a starter box but had to improvise with takin it out.....its so damn hard to start it! iv been told its the dogs B**l**ks once up nd running though. is there any easier way to start it? I primed it...it tiks over but nothing...also reset all the setting to standard as well..........Heelp! Thanks all!:D

Resetting the needles was most likely a mistake. If it was running fine before, why adjust the carb? Once an engine is tuned, the needles won't need to move anymore than half a turn or so to keep it there. Make sure the glow plug is new and that your using a fully charged ignitor. Alkalines don't work very well in ignitors, so if your using one, replace it. You need to line the flywheel up just right with the starter wheel. Find the sweet spot. Put the needles back if you know where they were.

Thanks for ur info mate. its all been reset and tuned, now i have another problem the spinning bell is grinding against the gear cog and is very hard to spin. Can the engine/or gearbox be adjusted?

Is the engine a pull-start type? If so, you may want to just pick up the parts to convert it. Less hassle.

Are you sure your spinning the engine the correct way? Easy mistake to make with a bump start that isn't setup for your rig. Usually they will still fire though, but run like crap.

the problem is that the gear mesh is grinding against the spur wheel and no matter how much i try adjusting it , it still grinds!!!!!!!!!!!???????? How can i solve this problem?

If the clutch bell teeth are grinding against the spur, the engine has moved.
Loosen the mounts, slip a strip of paper between the spur and the CB teeth, hold the engine tightly in place while locking it down. Roll the paper out and you're ready to go.

I'm confused... Are you trying to say that your gear mesh is too tight and won't adjust to be any more loose? If so, you need to get a smaller spur, smaller CB or both. 40/15 (maybe 40/14) I think is the max depending on your engine mount. I run a new era leaner mount in my BB revo.

Or, are you saying your clutch bell teeth are hitting the slipper plate? In that case, you have to pull off the clutch/flywheel and reshim it appropriately.

I know you got it started but I would get a roto start. I just put one on mine and it's the best method I have had yet.

If the car ran fine before I'd double check how everything sits after you put it back together. I can't see the gear mesh being that bad if all is right.

Hi thanks fore all ur info.....Rite thes been a little adjustment but the engine fits tight....the reason is its a bigger engine. The onlt way to start is by Bump strat i think. It starts now and sound good, however i am face with another problem! When you giv it a bita gas it drives but keeps turn9ing off? been advised its the mixture ????? Does anyone know the standard needle setting for a MAch 28 engine? Thanks You All! :D
