Is there any body who can think of any reason why my revo cuts out when i try to use full throttle I have tried various fuel settings and nothing seems to work. i am running 10% fuel.

sorry didnt read your post properly it sounds like its bogging under throttle lean it up a little

i had to richen mine when it was bogging when i went wide open.

Are you getting a good smoke trail? If it's a heavy smoke trail, I would say too rich. I don't have any exp running 10% though so I don't know if there could be something there.

When it quits at WOT it can mean that it's either too lean or too rich. First, it idles well? Does it drive up to half throttle okay?
If that's okay, it's in the HSN. Turn it 1/8 turn counter clockwise to richen it. Did it get better or worse?
If it got worse, or nothing changed, go back to where it was, but this time turn it IN 1/8. Then try it again. When you find the point where it's starting to behave, increase your adjustments 1/16 turn at a time. Do all your adjustments with the engine warmed up.

I think it may be too lean as i have it at stock setting and its quiet cold here about 35-37' degrees yesterday will try all your advice today and hopefully ill get going, fingers crossed. :hammer:

Probably, you usually have to richen it up when running in colder weather. Also the 2.5 can be tricky at first, it really reacts to very slight (1/16th) adjustments. Good luck. You can always take an old sock and put it around the head to try and warm it up some.

I have richened it up and it now will got to full throttle, but after a while the engine cuts out,and then takes a couple of mins before it will re start, i dont have a temp gauge so not sure of temps, but a bit of spit on the head takes about 7-8 secs to evaporate. Please help me!!!!

if its cutting out at full throttle, sounds like its over-heating. i'd say richen that baby up. i run mine in the cold here, when its like 10-20 out, and i have it richened right up, so much that i can't even get into second gear. its good though, because i know i wont over heat the engine. when its cold out, you will run hotter... something about the air pressure. well, hotter in relation to the tempurature outside. the guy at my LHS said to try to run the engine around 160-180 hotter than the outside tempurature. its treated me good so far, but man i can't wait for it to warm up!

I've richened it up like you had said and guess wot???
It ran spot on, and didnt cut out once, and I can see when its a little warmer and I am able to lean it up a bit its going to be a flyer
thanks every body

A temp gun from radio shack is about $20.00 plus or minus. It really isn't to help you fine tune, but it will let you know if it is way hot, or way too cold

When I first started tuning my nitro's I used this temp gun like it was a tuning bible. always trying to keep my engine running within a certain temp range. I could never get my engines to run right.. like never.

So what I did one day is ditch the temp gun and tune by performance/feel. I tuned it so I had Plenty of take off, nice top end and a nice trail of smoke. I was also making sure it wouldn't die on me, and I would have to wait to get it to restart. My nitros were running reat, all three.

Well after about 2 weeks I took out the temp gun and check it, it was about 10 degrees cooler at idle than I thought it should be, and about 20 degrees too hot after a long WOT run.

The morale of the story.. there's no set heat range, or perfect spot for these engines. You tune by feel, and performance, performance meaning a balance of power/top end, with no overheating. Sure a temp gun will tell you if your 100 degrees over temp, or running way too cool (a very useful tool) but they are very misleading when it comes to fine tuning.

I guess what I am saying if you're still reading after the long story..is after a while you'll get how they run and know how to tune by feel & sound rather than any set guidline, wether it be temp or counting the turns on the needles..

BTW a sock over part of your cooling head will help in low temp weather.

I use a piece of bicycle intertube and a hose clamp around the head. Works really well.

Last time I was out, it was about 20 degrees and I was running the savage in a lot of snow. The temp at the gp was about 220 and it was running great and staying running great. I ran it for about an hour and tuned it like a normal warm day.

The rubber holds the heat in really well.

Thanks,
Ill try the inner tube suggestion, I have not got a temp gun yet but hopefully the ball and chain will let me buy one next month, they are about £25-30 here about £60 I also need a fail safe.
