My rc car lost its range

My new rc nitro thunder tiger tomahawk vx ford gt loses range quick when the engine is on. I tested it when the engine is of it will work up to almost a football field length but when i start the engine i can go about 20 feet then i lose control please help!!.

How old is it, did you get it new or used, does it have a 27mhz or 2.4ghz trx/rx?

Are you useing fresh batteries sometime's if you are close to the end of your batteries life span it can cause the problem you have.. also check to see if any part of the RX wires on the RIG are not broken & pluged into your RX firmly sometimes with heavy bashing thay tend to unplug themselfs a tad.. & if your RIG has an older style RX system I would invest in a 2.4 GIG system

Its got new batteries and its brand new i think the wire got cut fOr the antenna would that do it?
