Just got the front tires and a body scissors. I'm just waiting for the proline body mounts and I have to cut up to body a little but more.

I hope you geared way down. That poor brushed motor is gonna be huffin' and puffin' to turn those big wheels! Looks cool though :)
By just driving around inside house the motor was hot. I'll drive it outside for about 10mins and depending on the temp I'll gear it down.

After all of our nimh batterys die I'm planning to upgrade to 2s lipos and upgrade to vxl or another brushless system.
14-12 tooth pinion

I don’t recommend the VXL, it gets super hot running 3s with stock gearing. Get something with 3200kv or lower and a can size of 36-60+

Looks good, have you done anything else than larger tires and trimming the body?
How does is drive compared to before? Does it flip over easier?

And don't buy a VXL system, you can get a Hobbywing set cheaper and that is much better, I switched VXL set in my Slash with a Hobbywing and it's so much better. I switched because first the ESC broke then the motor.

Either the small 1:10 combo: https://www.hobbywing.com/goods.php?id=579&filter_attr=5456.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0
Or the more powerful 1:10 combo: https://www.hobbywing.com/goods.php?id=580&filter_attr=5456.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0

I have the last one, and it's more powerfull than VXL system

And use a smaller pinion.

All that I did is the 2.8 tires and trimming the body. i just drove it around the house inside. I need to gear it down the pinion. From driving around the house the motor is already hot. When I get it outside i will see how it drives and how It flips over. I will look into the hobbywing stuff. I will switch to brushless systems and 2s lipos when all of my nimh batteries die. Usually I get about a year with the nimh batteries I use. I have 2 batteries per car so I have 4 nimh batteries in total.

When going brushless lipo is a demand, with the 120A ESC you need good batteries like 5000mah 50+C

There are no true 50c LiPos, most are 30c and under.

Maybe they are not true to their label but those labeled 50C are better than those labeled 30C. And those labeled 50C is what you need as minimum. When I switch between a gensacearespammers labeled 60C and a IP racing 135C! it gives a huge boost and the car won’t run on a 25C

I’ve got three Slash trucks running on “new” Reedy 3300kv motors with the BL60 ESC’s taken from new Team Associated trucks from the breakers on eBay. Even on my monster slash they run cool on 3s, even with moderately aggressive gearing. I haven’t paid more than $80.00 for the combo and have had great luck with them. HW stuff is great, but triple the price.
The downside of the Reedy setup is the gain in torque. Much more than you would expect when switching from the 3500kv Velineon. It’s fun, and the wheelies are cool but you WILL break stuff if you bash on 3s unless you get rid of the Traxxas gears in the trans and diff and upgrade your axles.

If you’re on a tight budget and you need to replace that brushed motor then consider this Injora brushed motor from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BF6ZGG1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This motor ran cooler than the Titan did and was just as quick if not slightly quicker than the stock motor. My son ran this with Pro line trencher monster truck tires (about the same as yours) with a 9 tooth pinion (32 pitch) on his 4x4 slash before we switched to the Castle Creations Copperhead/3800 KV combo. The Castle sensored motor combo runs very cool and absolutely rips om 3s lipo. Given you have a 2wd you might be able to run a larger 48 pitch pinion equivalent to an 11 or 13 tooth 32 pitch pinion.
