Build Thread My Monster Beetle

I treated myself to a re-release Monster Beetle back in 2018. Just after I got a lunch box.

I don't have any pictures of it in stock form as it didn't stay that way for very long.

First modification was installing an Xtra Speed centre servo mount. A wonderful product I might add. Then a new aluminium servo horn and joined together by some turnbuckles from an FTX Outlaw.

Then I found some lovely aluminium parts on ebay so decided it would become a shiny aluminium monster beetle. This has cost me a small fortune.

Next: a vital upgrade to replace the awful stock tamiya 'diff'.

Yeah I like shiny Aluminium. I did even buy an aluminium chassis which I bent when I smashed into a buried rock at my local park. It bent the chassis and destroyed the servo. I was more upset by the fact I cracked a vintage KBF wheel that took me months to find. I was having so much fun in the sun last year, 5 minutes later and boom, I could have cried.

I have modified the front hibs so I can run 12mm hex wheels as I like to change wheels pretty often, she has around 10 sets of wheels.

I installed a Spektrum 2in1 ESC/receiver from a Gorgon and use the transmitter also from the Gorgon. It does zip along nicely on 2s with a HPI firebolt motor but I have now installed a Holmes Hobbies retro sport 15t motor so it should be a little bit quicker. It is a runner and not a shelf queen I just look after her and clean it thoroughly after every run.

It should have been a more detailed thread but I seem to have lost most of the photos of the build process- for this I apologise and the next build thread will be even greater detail with many more photos.

Its a beauty! I really like the carbon fiber upgrades!
Years ago, I put a larger servo in center frame and a JG suspension upgrade in my Blackfoot. Very similar to your set up.
