Here is my newly completed Mod Slash. There are very few Traxxas parts remaining on it. The build list includes-

Thunder Tech "Pro" Chassis
Pro-Line Protrac suspension kit w/ Powerstroke shock (40wt front/30wt rear)
RPM caster blocks and steering arms
Traxxas black tranny case
RPM gear cover
Lunsford Titanium hinge pins
RPM rear bumper mount and rear bumper
Pro-Line front bumper
Traxxas Slash 4x4 steering linkage w/ integrated servo saver
Fast Lane Machine Slash sealed diff (30k oil)
Pro-Line M3 Bow Ties- Pro-Line closed cell foam in front/"stock" Pro-Line foam in rear.
Team Associated gold sway bar in front with custom mounts.

I am running 2.5 deg camber in front and 2 deg camber in rear.
Electronics-
LRP Sphere w/fan
Novak Ballistic 10.5
Futaba 9351 servo w/ alum servo arm
Trinity (Intellect) 3800 35C LiPo
and my newest toy- an Airtronics M11x to control it.

And here is a pic with the body on it. Still need to add a few decals to it, just haven't found the right ones yet.

Looks like a nice setup, what's your thoughts on that Thunder Tech chassis?

So far I love it. It is lighter and more rigid than the stock one. I plan to eliminate the vertical posts between the top and bottom plates, and replace them with aluminum plates that are milled out, and also increase the bolt size to a 10/32. I am also discussing the possibility of redesigning the servo area to allow a laydown servo on the bottom plate to lower the center of gravity.

With the additional rigidity, the "sloppy" and inconsistent feel of the stock Slash is gone. This was apparent in my first version of this truck that had all RPM arms and Traxxas Big Bores on it. Problem was, the Slash needed a significant uprade in the suspension dept. to run with the other SC trucks out there. Thank you Pro-Line! I will keep everyone posted on the updates to the Thunder Tech chassis, with a little tweaking this could be the best replacement chassis on the market.

A few quick updates in the "Super Slash". The ESC is now an LRP SXX TC (thanks to a killer deal from a friend who switched to Tekin), I changed the battery mount to the old school Associated cups (think RC10 days) which allowed me to move the battery forward to help with initial turn-in issues. Moving the battery forward let me put the ESC behind it, shortening wire lengths and lowering the center of gravity. I also changed the servo to a lay-down style which further lowers the center of gravity, and gave better steering response.

The switch was also made to a Blitz body, painted foy my little bro since he is racing it now. I let him drive it once and he fell in love with it.

If anyone likes the Thuunder Tech chassis on this truck, just wait... The new one is going to be sick. It will look much different than this one, each change done for specific improvements.

Where did you find your fast lane sealed diff? I can't seem to find one.

I bought mine from rc-monster. I just checked their site for you today and they are out of stock. Here is the direct link to the product page http://www.fastlanemachine.net/proddetail.php?prod=FLM20010&cat=17

Maybe you can contact them to see about any other vendors.

Good luck, it's a great part or the Slash. Almost make the transmission maintenance free.

If you find one, make sure the threads for the bolts that hold the case together are clean and use a small drop of blue loctite on each bolt. Mine came loose (not apart though) and leaked before I did this. Since loctiting the bolts it's been smooth sailing.

Do you know if they are going to be doing a chassis for the slash 4x4?

Here are some new pics showing the changes I described above. I also spent some time cleaning up the wire routing. And due to me not having parts for the Pro-Line shcoks, I put on a set of FT Associated truck shocks. No issues with them yet, and now I have a variety of springs to tune with.

Woodie- I don't think that a Slash 4x4 chassis is in the works, but if there was interest it may be an option. They would probably need to be able to sell 25-30 of them to justify the time and expense.

Thanks I really would like to have one of these not only for my slash but for my rustler too

I like to look. Have you had time to get it out on the race track or just bashing?

All I do is race, the closet I come to bashing is test runs in the parking lot of the apartments I live in. If you're thinking of getting the chassis for bashing I suggest the standard model. The top plate is solid, and though it's a little heavier it's more durable.

are the bowties the only tires you have or do you hav other sets depending on the track/weather?

I've got the Bow Ties (M3), a set of slick made from stock Slash tires, and a set of Super Soft AKA Wishbones. Planning to get some Calibers or something similar as well as the AKA Enduros for the outdoor track, but right now we're still running indoors and the slick and Wishbones work great depending on track condition.
