I entered my first buggy race today and got 5/6 heat-1 didn't finish Heat-2 cause of fuel line leaking....but i got the 2nd fastest lap time of the night in that heat.....then I I couldn't stay running for the B-Main....Oh well I thought I was doing good being able to run about 1.5 quarts before the race w/o having issues of any kind...except a shock nut came off and I had to put anew one on...I was laughing cause it was the easiest repair I've had to do at the track.......I'm hooked...I'm selling all my stuff except the 2 buggies and my mutant maxx setup.....lol
minimize the different distractions and I can focus on 1/8 scale racing....

glad to hear you had a good day. jeff and i discovered that aspect of the addiction early last year, now were just waiting for the season to start again up here.

I guess I'm lucky because they race all year at millspond, but it definaltely gets more people in the summer.....there were 12 buggies total doing 2 qualifying runs and a B-main and A-main.....I had fun but I was bummed I ran all day w/ no issues then the race ended my day...I haven't even tore my stuff down yet....I have to do it tomorrow I guess...UGGG.....I need more time in the day for everything I need to do......I'm going to try and set a mugen up for next weekend w/ a fantom .27 in it.....I just need to find someone to resolder my JR servo leads and a new antenna on my 2nd Rx.......

I haven't had access to one since I killed marine radio...I figured I was better off leaving it to the pros...I need it soldered back onto the control board in the Servo case....kittke more risk than I want to take...same for the Rx.....the guy that makes XS power battery packs said he'd do it...if he can I'll throw him a 20 or a 12 pack....whichever he preffers....

yeah, I hear ya. That's definately a bit of a tough job if your not really good. I'd be hesitant myself to solder to a board.

Sounds like you where able to go out and have some fun, since dealing with the B.S last week. I would love to go race other people but the closest track to me is almost 70 miles away :(. They have a T-Maxx club and they get together every weekend. Right now though I dont even have a running car, my tranny shot craps on me grrrrr

The competition is an adrenaline rush. That's what got me hooked last summer. Even raced electrics in the winter because the bug bit me so bad. Most important thing about racing is to keep in mind what it's all about ... FUN FUN FUN.

Can't wait for the season opener tomorrow!

I've never raced before but I want to....how do you guys tune your cars before the race? Don't they prevent you from turning on your radios until right before you race? Also, I don't have a pit crew unless you consider a 7 year old boy with the attention span of a flea a good one. Where do I dig up a pit crew at these places? Wondering...I want to race soon

well for a pit crew you only need someone to hold ur car (if no gate) before the race and to refuel you in the main. if i dont have anyone i usually will ask someone if they would mind (make sure they are in a class that has already raced or a class that is a couple races after yours so they have time to prepare at least) most people at the track will be nice enough to help you

also for setup, first race is just for me at least to get experience at the track and see what everyone is running. then once you figure out a good tire choice its all driving ability and how you like ur car (agrressive and such) tire choice is by far the best setup key there is

yes Tires Tires Tires you will need a big friggin box of different treads and don't forget to clean all the clay out of your rims after each heat so they don't load up and run your mill hot....I have a few friends that race and I've been sticking around after the practice time to help pit for them....I recommend doing that for a while to see how the track does things.....last nite I was pitting for a guy who wins most of the 1/8 scale races, he came in for fuel and his bottle spout broke off while I was filling it.....he ran out of fuel on the last run......but still won the race......
