my first project

this is my 6x6 hpi nitro mt. it was more a test then a project if anything. i did it to see if it was possible to turn my mt into anything else then what it is and i also wanted to have the only 6x6 stadium truck.

i got so into it i forgot to take some pics. i forgot to show the top peice for the rear and i also for got to show how it looked with all 6 wheels mounted up.

it ran great until i the main drive shaft that connected the spur gear to the rear diff fell out while it was running (still can't find it). i had to do some tuning to it since i hadnt ran it for a while. all in all it turned out good. i put it back to its original state to see how it was. this project put me back into the nitro part of the hobby. i was planning how to make it electric.

thanks zandor. it wasn't that hard. just need the right tools. its not as hard as i thought make the double sided diff.
I'm going to do it again after i buy a pair of ball diffs and the hellfires 150cc gas tank. I'm going to rethink my disign so the dog done doesn't fall out next time

i have another chassis and I'm ordering a titanium one. dont come looking for me when I'm signing your pay check.

What part's did it exactlly take to make it a 6x6 so far?

not much. i needed another rear center dogdone. i used a front shock tower( dont have a spare rear one at the moment) but a rear one will make things alot easier. preety much all the rear suspension parts. 2 diff cases ( the ones with the gear attached to it) a platform to put the rear end on and to connect to the rig. 2 more wheels and tires and thats preety much it. oh and a dremel and a srewdriver.

Blah, blah, blah Grasshopper! But, I will say, very cool idea! I have to ask, when you did have it running, what kind of turning radius did you have? That thing looks so long you have to go out of town to turn it around!

turning radius wasn't to bad. yes the length made handling worse. pretty much like driving a bus. the only difference i left the rear a little bit loose to help it turn a little bit better. that was as short as i can make it. any closer the rear tires would have been toughing.

Here's a idea that i just had,you could do for wheel steering,you'de have to think of a way to rig it but I'm sure that would seriouslly help the turning radius.Probablly could use the basic idea from the front,and apply it to the back.might make it intresting to drive or climb with.

Pretty cool! Everything's in focus EXCEPT the part you're holding! Just say no to drugs, Danny! It's not worth it!

As for the steering, I wonder if you could rig something up where the additional set of wheels is on a traditional front end set-up (including servo). If you can get a radio that allows third channel mixing, you could set-up a third channel and mix it with your first channel to add 4WS, right? Thinking out loud, so I may be way off.
