Good looking pattern.
One piece of advise, cut out your openings and do all the body trimming before you paint.

Now you tell me! I see it done either way, but thought I was doing something wrong if I took that approach. You should see my barbie pink mini-t I made for the misses... :spit:

Paint looks good though, the stars are a nice touch.

I'm almost done with it about to put the last coat on in about 10 minutes, stay tuned for the final product. i think its going to be pretty good for my first RC paint job!

Make sure you have a good pair of curved lexan body scissors before you start trimming...I wouldn't know why...

ill snap some pics first, and yes i do have curved lexan scissors, but I'm going to wait an hour or two before i do any trimming just to make sure i dont scratch the paint

Awesome, sounds like you are taking your time to do the job right. I'm sure it will turn out great, so far from what I have seen a very good body, let alone a first try. It was new to me to paint internally first, you kind of have to think backwards. Luckily I'm a one color kind of guy and all I need is a good set of decals for the specifics.

Keep us updated, you're doing a great job so far.

ok heres the finshed job. its not 100% perfect but I'm sure happy with it. let me know what you guys think!!!

i origanally wanted black/ blue in back, which i did. and blue/ black in the front but i ended up going with white stars in the front because it would have made the blue to dark and i didnt want to do that. so here it is. paint is all finished up and in a few hours ill snap a few more of the cut and mounted body on my revo. let me know what you guys think. dont hold back

remember this is my first RC car paint job!

yeah I'm happy with it, thanks alot for the good feedback. to bad i dont have any more cars to put some more paint jobs on. than i could really get some good schemes going =]

stars were always cool. glad i made something nice out of it. the backwords painting with the graphics messed me up for a little while than it just came to me. i think i got the hang of it now i just need to get some more bodies to paint! =]

Looks great so far. Just wait until it's unmasked, trimmed, decaled and mounted. Makes an even bigger impression. Excellent first work. Now you're going to get caught in that horrible trap of trying to one-up yourself on the next body!

OOhh, I couldn't agree with that more. I now have 5 lids for the Savage, and I haven't even started it yet. The painting becomes a real passion, and each lid has more that the previous one.

I think you did a great job, Matt. Most people really struggle with their first body because they are too afraid of messing up, just like painting with a 1:1 car. You dove right in and did a masking job on your first body, and a darn good one at the. I give it 3 months before you have an airbrush. You don't have to have another car, painting bodies is one of the cheapest projects you can work on, and will keep you plenty busy. You can have several of them for your truck, or do some bodies for friends. You might want to do some for free for a lil while and get the hang of it, and then you can charge and make a lil something on the side. If it's only 10 or 20 bucks for a body, with them buying the supplies, it will add up quick and word of mouth will spread.
