My First Brushless Experience

This last weekend I finally got around to installing the VXL brushless system in my son's Slash. I also tore it down and put some 50k fluid in the diff and switched to a 2s LiPo battery.
This is my first real experience with brushless and LiPo's. If you've been around here long then you know I'm a die hard nitro guy but I've gotta say that this really showed me why some of you prefer the electrics. This thing was fast,fun and we ran at least 20 min on a single charge. The single best electric experience to date for me. Don't get me wrong,I'd still take a nitro over anything but there's good reason to have an electric like this in the stable too.

I did run in to 1 problem(sort of). When installing the system the instructions say to set the throttle trim to neutral,but to get it to work I had to trun the trim all way down(left on the knob). I'm just using a stock Traxxas TQ radio,isn't the center where the knob arrow lines up with the line on the radio supposed to be the neutral postion? Anyway, it works great now.

That poor lid!!! I miss my Slash. BL and LiPo rocks--that thing is fast! At least when it gets traction...

As for the trim--I believe (it's been awhile) that neutral is straight up on the steering and full left on the throttle.

Try it with the 3s.......... will double the speed and accel.

Did you wach the vid?! I think we'd better wait until he can drive a little bit better.
Actually I think he does darn good for 9 year old.

Seriously though,doubles the speed? WOW! I saw in the manual that you could use a 3s with it but I had no idea it would be that much of an improvement.

It really is. Glue the hell out of the tires, slap in a 3s. and just try and drive it straight.
