I was running my t maxx yesterday and it ran great for about an hour then after that it started sounding choked like it was blocked or something. So i changed the air filter and it was the same. I found that i had to build up the revs slowly then it would be ok but if a just nail throttle it sounded chocked. After about 10 mins tunning trying to sort it out it didnt get any better and my glow plug blew. My t maxxx seems to go through a glow plug for every litre of fuel i use. Is this normal. I have tryed variouse plugs and am going to try a traxxas super duty plug tomorrow and see if that goes any better and see if my engine is still the same. Is it time to rebuild my engine or clean my carb. Its only just had 2 gallons through it.

From the symptoms I'd say it's lean. When it sounds choked does it just lose power or does it kind of gurgle and then clear out and speed up? If it loses power it's too lean.

Yes its just like you say it gurgles a little then clears out. Like its pushing through what ever the problem is. But then a couple of minutes later its back the same. I took the head of last night just to have a look about. There are no scores or anything in the sleeve or on the piston, a little carbon but that cleaned off no problems. I also noticed there is not shim between the head and the block. Is it a good idea to fit one?

mine was doing the same thing to the T. It cleared out though and runs fine. maybe it has some trash in the carb.
