Well I wouldn't call it a build, since it's all of the shelf parts. I don't have the tools nor the skills to make up my own parts. You gotta know your limits. :)

Truck all torn down, still have a 454 engine and pipe I need to sell of this truck.
Used a cut up 8ight radiotray and since I'm going with truggy tires I'm trying out a single servo setup.
I will stick with mechanical brakes until Losi release their single speed conversion for the LST, which should be in about a month. With my luck it will probably get here faster than the battery I ordered from HobbyKing.

Now I just need the e-kit and the battery, and I'm ready to go. I already setup the ESC to the radio and made sure the shaft spins the right way. This waiting game is killing me. :)

looking really good so far neo, looks like you got your speed system all ready to go! hope to see some video soon dude!

Yeah I'm all ready to go. I just had my dad take a look at the soldering job, just to make sure it was OK. Not that I've had problems soldering in the past, but all it take is one bad joint and you got a esc going up in smoke.

It's a Losi Strike body shell, it's gonna look kick ass with the big XXL tires on it. Also got some XTT's if the gearings a little too high.

It's done......almost. Still waiting for batteries.

I really dig how the body looks. Nice job so far on the build. How many cells you plan on running? What are the overall dimensions of the truck?

I'm getting a 4s 30C 5000 turnigy pack for it. That should work fine with the 2100kv motor I'm told. I'm sticking with the EC5 plug that comes with the ESC.

Overall dimensions are about 55x40cm, aprox.

Yeah that body is a new favorite of mine, makes it look like a real monster. Will look even better with on demand wheelies, but Hobbyking is not cooperating. I hope my battery get's here next week sometime. :)

OK soooo, a little custom work had to be done. It's a nice kit and all, but not perfect. But it's still a good value even with the modding needed. It isn't that much really, nothing you can't do with a dremel. But it makes such a difference, in handling and in looks.

Here's how the final outcome is.

looks good. might be a touch slow on 4S (relatively speaking) but i am sure it will be fine. Any gearing change necessary to keep your elecs cool?

It's geared for 42mph right now, guys in the know about converting LST's told me that was a good speed to shoot for to get a cool running rig.

nice. 42 is plenty fast for that truck. I am sure the OD on those tires really makes a big difference.

Gearing is completely stock for a XXL, 25t pinion and 63t spur. Single speed conversion. I'm waiting for Losi's single speed hub to be available.

The transmission output gears you get with the Losi kit is too high geared, the truck would be pushing just over 50 with that. I don't think the ESC or motor would like that very much.

Gawd this waiting around for a battery is killing me.

I'll tell you this, is this works out well, I might even consider converting the buggy to electric. Once my jpx.21 wears out of course.

2.5:1 sounds too high to me but i haven't converted an XXL so i dunno. My little ste will be 3.2:1

whats the tranny reduction? That might be the difference right there. I am center-diffed so i have no other reduction except for the 3.9:1 in the axles.

hey do u guys know where i can get a 15fe pull start for a suuper nitro rs4

.......Anyway......

Here's my progress, it lives muhahahaha. :)

While waiting for Losi to send back my broken Xcelorin combo I picked up a MMM 2200. I might just sell the Xcelorin when I get it back, or save it for my planned e-bug project.

No video yet, maybe soon.

Thanks man, it runs like a bat out of hell.

I've decided that when I get the Xcelorin stuff back the 2100 motor will be replaced by a 1700. I already have the brushless conversion kit on the way so the buggy will be electric too.
I'm going all in, no more nitro. I think I'm gonna miss it, but I do love that fact I can go right outside my front door and bash, and not have to worry about the noise. :)

Got the last bit of bling on the truck. To replace my homemade single speed hub....here's the Losi made one. It's light as a feather, only 13g that's about one third of what I had on there, and it looks a lot better.
