I've been wanting a new compact camera for a while now, since not long after buying the DSLR. I've been watching prices on these steadily drop, and they dropped another $100 last week so I snagged one. Leica lens, 12x optical zoom, and HD video for under $200.

Awesome, congrats!

Those are some nice pics from a compact.

After my last experience with a compact, I gave it to my daughter and got a DSLR. The Olympus compact we had was not good at all (and that is being nice).

Thanks everybody, I'm really happy with it, and it has multiple manual shooting modes also. For anybody who's looking for a new camera, your local Best Buy should have these for $199.

Also, here's a quick HD movie sample of my snowy drive home from GA the other day. I'm just hand holding the cam to see how good the OIS is.

Photobucket drops the quality quite a bit, but still passable for web stuff though. Can't wait to film some RC footage with this thing.

Thank you sir. Yeah, after spending a couple years with my Rebel XSi, my little compact left a lot to be desired, but I wasn't sure what I wanted in a compact either though. There are things I wish this one did, but all the cameras I looked at that had those features were at least double the price. Now I truly never leave home without a camera, and that's the real reason for buying it.

Nice pics, Panasonic makes some great compact cameras, I have a older model Lumix but while it still takes good pics I really want a full size with a view finder and at least 12x optical zoom, not a DSLR. any suggestions?

The view finder is hard to get these days. The Canon SX 30 and the Nikon P100 fit those requirements though.
