My buggy is finished except...

Hey guys,

I am finished the build on my X1 CR and all I have left to do is paint the lid and build the linkages. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I can't find a Hitec servo horn insert that works. The ones in the kit don't work, so I went to the hobby shop and ordered a set of servo horns from Ofna. I got those home and to my dismay none of those servo horns worked either. I spent $200 on these two servos, not that that has anything to do with it, but still I am a bit frustrated. Does anyone have a solution other than to go out and buy new servos? I am at my wits end here. I just want to fire this buggy up and get her broken in. I can't believe all that is stopping me is 10 cents worth of plastic. Thanks guys.

The only one that I could have used I actually broke while trying to enlarge the hole to take the screw. The other problem with the horns that came with the servo is that they are not quite beefy enough for my liking. The one's that Ofna puts out are a bit nicer, and much stronger. The stock horns seem to break easier under stress... or maybe it is that I can't drive....onder2:

I have a bunch of high strength horns for Hitec servos. What type of horn you looking for? I'm trying to recall the name of them, but I found them in the airplane section of my LHS and they work great. If I think of the name, I'll post it.

There is really only one type that I need and that is the single armed horns. Because the steering servo in the Buggy, and Truggy are lying on their sides the single is the only way to go because the horn needs to rest at a 90. I would like to go aluminum but I would also like a week point so that I do not damage the servo in a hard crash... which I have pretty frequently.

All my hitec servos came with a large selection of horns. I like the big red one. Many times I have used the roto tool and cut the other 3 horns off to make it into a single horn unit.

I also have several hanging out if you need one.

Want servo do you have?

The servos I am using are the 5998, 5625. I am very happy with the servos just not the fact that I can't get any horns to fit.

Dynamite makes a whole series of aluminum, one armed horns, like OFNA, that are made specific to each brand of servo fit. I use them in my buggies as they can handle the extra torque and beating a buggy takes. I also used one on my single arm conversion on my Revo.

I broke the 90 that came with it and I tried to use the metal one, but the holes in the horn are too small to accept the screw that I had and my dremel is currently down for the count..... so I still have the metal servo... I still have the horn package that came with it... is there any that will work in place of the 90, and still be strong enough to handle the abuse?

You can use a 1/8" drill bit and make the hole larger in the HD metal horn.

If you have the Red 4 way horn, use a wire cutter and snip the other 3 off.
The red one is BEEF!
