ok my engine runs fine, its a vpsec, it stays in the 210-240 degrees, but it seems like it is idling high, i have been richening the idle needle, but if i do it anymore, my engine will die, also i have turned my throttle button pretty far, and it still idls high, why? i can get it where the car wont move at idle, but i hear it reving higher then it should

Ummm adjust the idle  Turn the screw in to turn it down OOPS counter clock sorry

You need to turn down the idle stop screw on the carburator. Then adjust the trim on your radio to match it. If the idle goes down, then begins to climb your LSN may be too lean.

 could my LSN have something to do with it, have never touched it, should i richen it up?

How is the punch off the line???If you can hit the throtle and it is smooth to top speed your good..

Maybe the V-spec is a little different, but your idle adjustment shouldn't ritchen (thats what the LSN and HSN are for). It is basically just a throttle stop, that adjusts how far the slide can close off the carbueretor barrel. Take off your air filter and see how big of an opening you have, and check it against the factory recommendation. If its too far open, that may be the issue.

Also, your clutch setup may just allow your engine to rev higher before the it engages. Softer clutch springs may be the answer, if your carb. slide isn't the problem.

Edit: while these may be the reasons, I wouldn't necessarily change anything. Having a high idle, means that there is less transition time before your engine spools up. You want it as high as you can get it without your car moving forward.

well everything seems to be a 1 mm gap, but early today i had to adjust my idle more counter clockwise, becuz out of no where it started reving up, i dont understand this, becuz for 2 weeks i was driving it fine. could air leak be a possibleity?

Could be a slight leak...check to see if there are any loose screws(back plate&carb&head)

checked all the screws, they are tight, will try again tommorrow, thanks

i highly doubt your engine has an airleak, the vspec is sealed very well with orings from the factory. what i do belive is that your out of tune. even if the temps are good, that doesn't mean its tuned well. set it back to factory setting and try again.

Sounds to me your LSN is too lean, too. Had the same problem when the weather changed drastically in Vegas and made my LSN out of whack. Richen the LSN and drive around for a lap; hit the breaks, and see if the engine idles better...

SCREW IT...get it???
it's late
I need sleep......set your carb to stay open about a mm and go from there...if that doesn't help fatten the bottom......(huh huh he said fatten the bottom)

dude, start your car... (don't richen up your LSN....) keep it how you had it. Then on your Throttle screw, take it out 1/8" turns at a time. (WHILE YOUR CAR IS RUNNING)<<< do that so you can make it perfect. If you do it while your car is off, your car might not start as well and/or not fix the problem. This way it will be perfect and when you start your car the next time, It will have perfect idle. Hope this helps. it always works for me.

man u guys are funny, fact, your lsn can make your engine idle high if its either to lean or to rich, if it wont run if you richen it up any more i would say to rich at a guess without hearing it, just because an engine is running fast does not mean the stop screw needs to be wound in and is more likely it needs to be retuned, like corrado said turn it back to factory setting and start again, other thing to cheack is that your fuel tube has no holes or air leaks

How about check the linkage. The collet that is attached to the servo, the one farthest away from the spring. Loosen set screw and see if the throttle moves. That just means that the spring is not allowing it to go down to your throttle stop.

One way to tell is if you are running and you hit the brake and the idle changes, then that is the problem. Your idle should not change at all when you hit the brake. Check for that. Hope this helps.
