i made 2 changes to my revo and am trying to figure out wich one was the mistake. problem is that my low end torch is suffering slightly. I've played with tuning and its as good as its gonna get. i did both at the same time, so i just want other opinions. i took the old 2.5r mill out and put in my spare 2.5, as well as changing the 2speed from close ratio to wide ratio. I'm thinking its the wide ratio gears but have not noticed any top speed gain or any real diffrence in shift patterns. is the wide ratio suposed to give better top end? I'm not 100% possitive but i think the only diffrence in the 2 mills are the porting, wich could make a big differance.. what do you think?

Could just be you clutch or your slipper.

Wide ratio vs standard I don't believe is any different with top speed. It has more to do with the jump between 1st and 2nd. I could be wrong though.

i thought the same thing olds.. but I've done pass after pass, and i really can't see or hear a diffrence. i do have a three shoe clutch in there and my slipper is all the way tight intill i get this figured out. i'd really hate to think its the mill.

Maby one mill has more usage then the other. Just a thought. And olds is right, they are the same just the shift points change.

ya i ment to throw that out there. the 2.5r has maybe 6 or so gallons on it. I'm not sure if thats alot on not. but it tends to be a little hard to tune. the 2.5 has only 6-10 tanks past break-in

Yeah, 6 gallons is a long life for an enging this size. Traxxas jusr dropped the price on the ERP, so spend the $110.00 and get a brand new 3.3... It is much stronger that the 2.5r, and you shouldnt have any trouble tuning the new engine
