I'm getting a mugen MBX5 Prospec coming up soon, and need to know what type of crank shaft on the engine that the clutch needs. Does it need a "pilot" shaft, a standard crankshaft, or a shortened one?

the long one...i think its called a SG shaft. Most .21's or larger come with the "SG" shaft, so thats what you need.

SG and pilot are the same thing. Also you can not run a pull start mill in a prospec! I learned the hard way when building my truggy.

Heh, no worries about the pullstart; goin all new on this car, including the starter box. It's getting an OS V-Spec.

If I am not mistaken I was told that a "pilot" shaft is an adapter to change a threaded shaft to work like a "SG" shaft.

That's primarily the reason I posted the thread - I wasn't too sure if the SG and pilot were the same thing, or what... Thanks everyone for clarifying the issue - when the MBX5 arrives, pics shall be posted.

oops, i read somewhere it was the same. Damn false forums. Make shure when you get the v-spec, to tear it down and whipe it down with baby whipes,j/k,lol.

LOL - I intend to dissect the engine and clean it out thoroughly with DA, inspecting for stripped holes in the crank case (had a megatech engine that came with a stripped backplate hole), and reassemble it as best as can be.
