Hey guys. I'm new to this forum, but not so new to r/c, I've been in the brushless electric scene for about a year or two, decided to go into 1/8th scale buggies. I've delt with nitro before, but not buggies.

I have a mp777 being built right now with some carbon fiber parts...real nice, I just wanted some recs on engines. I read a diff thread that talked only good things about the P5X engine. Seems priced fairly decent...do you think I should go with this engine? Any other suggestions to engines in that price range? Glad to join this forum.

You can't go wrong with a Novarossi... The P5 is a proven mill on the track..
Other engines to look at would be:

OS .21 Vspec
RB WS73
Mr Ninja .21

Thank you. What about the REX P5X. How is it different from the Novarossi P5X? I would go for the RB, but right now, I'm not willing to spend that much on the engine. Probably willing to do so after my first engine through the 777. Thanks.

The REX P5X & the Novarossi P5X are the same mill different distributor.
Here's a little something about the REX mills...

Hiya boilermaker777, yup the P5 is a sweet mill, I had one in my 777 for a while, but plan to add a P5X in at some point. It won't disappoint!

Yeah I am going to order one soon. What tuned pipe do you guys recommend, I prefer using the same manufacturer as the engine. Any ideas? THanks.

This is the mill, regular P5X:

You can get the hot modded version for $339

"This engine works best with a Novarossi 9886 pipe, or if you are on a budget the OFNA 086 pipe."

9886: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4779 + manifold: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/4777

086: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/2111 << this seems cheaper and is said to be stronger than the 9866 hrm!

Hope this helps.
