hi

looking for a new motor for my rustler.

if i bought a high performance 20t would it be an improvment on the stock traxxas stinger motor?

thanks

One new motor that my brother and I have used (stock) is the new Cobalt 27's. They are new to the market but one thing is for sure, they do have pull. They perform like a 19t. As I said, they are new to the market so readily available performance write ups are still scarce. You can get them readily tuned by Trinity but other companies are starting to tune them. Eric Anderson, from EAmotorsports, has started tuning them and OMG ... that's all I have to say about them. It's also common that people have had to go up anywhere from 4-6 teeth on the pinion to compensate for the power.

Give it a try if available on your side of the pond.

Well

First Traxxas Stinger motors permanent magnets are not as strong as those found in most Trinity,Orion or other reputable brands. And this = less torque.

Even a solid Trinity Monster Horsepower 27 turn should equal a Stinger with no trouble and even outperform it.

You want a guarantee of a good deal better performance get a 19turn Trinity or Orion motor and you will vastly improve performance.

A good strocker (27 turns) will have more bottom end torque. All the generic motors and the Stinger is a generic motor with a flashy sticker do not measure up to the quality motors with equal and even lesser turns.

If your just bashing with it try a Kyosho magnetic mayhem. It has a but load of torque and will have quite a bit speed over the stinger and will out last most other motors. You can also run the stock gearing with no problem.
