Hey guys...as you may have read in another post, I'm doing a school project on R/C Nitro cars and I have to build one. I've decided that i'm going with the Associated NTC3 but I need help picking out a motor. What do you all recommend that has good acceleration and a high top speed? Price really isn't a big deal, just nothing like $300.00 ;)

Thanks!
~Kyle

if it would fit a .15 get the siro TX-18 3.0cc that is the most powerful .15 engine at the moment.... it is more powerful than traxxases 2.5!

uhhh dude, those aren't .15 they are .18. He wants something to put into a TC3. Most people, if I am not mistaken, put .12's in these cars. I would second X's recommendations, and would add the fantom fr.12. Fantom makes sweet mills at decent prices. There are lots of exotic italian mills, but those cost!! For the money, you can't beat an O.S. or Fantom

What kit are you going to get?
The rear exhaust bump start or the side exhaust pull start?

We need to know this first before we can help you find the right engine.

PS, For a nitro powered RC we call it an engine and for an electric RC we call it a motor. FYI

oh, ok...sorry about that. Probably the side exhaust pull start.

Any of the top name .12 or .15 will work just fine.
If you intend on racing contact your local track or club and see if they allow a .15 to compete. OS Nova Fantom.

Hey Eddy, does the OS Nova Fanotm come with a slide or rotary carb, and is it better than a cv-x? ;)

so will pretty much any engine fit and it's just a matter of my likings, uses, etc., or do bigger engines .15, .18, .21, etc. have different dimensions and will not fit? sorry, but i'm new at this :)

uhhh dude they are! the rc car action march editon has it in there it says on page 37 " since the engine is now the most powerful .15 tested by RC Nitro magazine"

No, actually they are a .18 that will fit the t-maxx without mods. It goes like this. 2.5cc=.15, 3.0cc=.18, 3.5cc=.21 Look at the model name on the Sirio 18 TX-3.0cc.

If you remember, Traxxas took some heat for calling their new engine a 2.5. It confused people into thinking it was a .25 when reality is was a .15.

Most of the .12, .15, .18 have the same outside case dimensions. The output shaft may need to be cut to fit your truck. The .21 is larger and wont fit the truck without significant modifications.
