Ok so i am tired of this axial. it runs hot and doesn't give me the power i want.

I am looking at either an OS .30 or a picco .28

Is there another motor i should consider?

I run the os30VG on my savage, you will not be disappointed!
Starts nice, runs cool, lots of power, easy to tune!

Ok i dont know everything about all the different motors but the picco .28 i just put in my xl completly blows away the 5.9 that was in it. The picco is cheaper than the OS too... right. I had problems ever since the 2nd gallon with the 5.9. So i bought the picco p3, which is what every one i talked to told me to get. I couldnt be happyer with the choice i made. Its like going from a mustang to a lamborgini.

I was just looking at your build thread. Is it hot all the time or just with the body on? Even though the body sits high, you aren't going to get enough airfow over the engine without cutting some holes in the body.

I didn't have enjoyable results with my axial 28 either. Ran hot, minimal power... idled great and started great, but was easy to get up to 270F in short order. Tuning it rich enough to keep the temps down made it run so rich that it would flame out.

Anyway, LRP28S3 is a great engine as well. LRP is also coming out with a 30 that should be a force to reckon with.

Run the Axial warm, it won't hurt it. I ran mine on the hot side for a long time. At 4 galllons it still has plenty of pinch and the internals are clean.

I am in a selling mood. Engine has right at half a gallon on it including break-in. Its the axial .28rr and it supposedly revs higher than the spec 1s. I paid 150 for it and its yours for 85 shipped. Comes with everything from pullstart to collet. No flywheel or clutch etc

well its starting to do better so i will run it until it dies. OS .30 or LRP .30? I know the OS will hold a tune and last forever but i don't mind trying new products

The O.S. 30 has an ABL sleeve, no where near as durable as ABC construction.
The O.S. 30 has never impressed me with it's performance either. The LRP .28 is stronger IMO.
Try out the new LRP .30
SH does not make bad engines, they are fuel hungry but they make power and tune easy.
Edit; Also keep a close eye on the main bearing in that Axial. They use a very cheap bearing with a piece of plastic holding the bearings in place.
I took one of mine apart for inspection...As soon as I removed the crank ball bearings started dropping out!
The front bearings are really leaky too, I put the double sealed Mach .26 front bearings in my Axial.

what about novarossi?

specifically the Novarossi Plus 28

Novarossi is to of the line just like picco. The nova .28 7 port is a ripper but it needs to be convertedto rotostart or pull start by novarossiUSA. Its worth it though.

but how do they compare? I am looking for basically the best engine for this thing. I don't need a precision tuned race engine but something with torque thats gonna last in a basher.

Another thing is that i don't want an engine that i have to break down and silicone every piece.

Collari
OS
Novarossi
LRP

Lets start to narrow it down
