Ok guys, I need some help here. I just sold my super to get the fundage to finally finish my Jeep Tuber scaler. I am not sure what the best esc motor combo would be for it. I want it to be able to handle mud, water, dirt, etc. since this ain't gonna be a shelf queen *cough* Rolex *cough*

I looked at the Castle Creations Sidewinder 5700kv brushless motor esc combo, but I know nothing at all about brushless so I am not sure how good of a choice this would be. How well can the brushless motors handle moisture? I can always take the esc apart and pack it internally with dielectric grease to waterproof it, but I am concerned about the motor.

I also considered a Mtronics Truck ESC ( http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-mt...3_51&sID=b247e61f7089da8bdfa1b621be3b80b4 ) which is 100% waterproof, and a Holmes hobbies 35 turn motor if I could get one.

Any help, suggestions, or even other possibilities would be greatly appreciated.

i personally love my sidewinder....i also dont know much about brushless but i did run a HH brushless motor for a little while and didnt like it at all, i really like my HH 35t though.

Do you plan on submerging the esc and motor ? How much votage are you looking to run ? Lipo batteries ? How many servos ?

Don't know if it will be submerged, but I definitely want to use it in and around water and mud, so I guess at some point that would be a possibility. I will only be using one servo for the steering. I have heard lipo batteries don't like water, so most likely I will be going with some good nimh packs.

I really like the Castle Creations stuff, but I would go with a Traxxas Waterproof XL-5 and a 35 turn motor on an 8 cell pack. I have the speed control and motor if your interested. The ESC is tuff as heck and has a lifetime warranty.

how much does one of those traxxas esc's run? cuz I'm sure i'll be hitting some water in my scaler too.

I have a 60,000 RPM 2.9 HP brushless that was originally going in one of my boats, but I got a really good deal on the whole electric and electronic set up from a new E-Sav or Revo. (Don't remember which)
Either way I go, I have NO intention of getting it anywhere NEAR water.:hehe::hehe:

You got it for a boat, but have no intention of getting it anywhere near water. Damn Rolex, what the hell is wrong with you man!:hehe:

I have uncountable hours actually building my tuber, from scratch, not just assembling a cooperdillon knock off, and I can't wait to get it dirty. Now quit derailing my thread ya big sissy! :D

LmfaoTG!! I was waiting for your reaction.
I'm joking about not getting it near water. I can't wait to push it back and forth in the tub. :D
