Well as most people know my Jammin was pretty much toast over a week ago. Well before that I had ordered a One Way Bearing for my engine which is a Dynamite Platimun .28. Well My bearing came in today and my truck being WAY out of commision I decided to install it. Well I went ahead and decided to tear everything apart and inspect while i had it tore down and before I resealed it. Well to my dissmay I discovered one of the small clips holding the pin that connects the conrod to the piston has dislodged either before or after I got it and put a nice scrap the piston wall. Now keep in mind before my accident this thing ran like a charm and I mean she was screaming. You can tell it was older because of the marrring in the scrap itself. I am just curious, should I look for another mill or replace the damaged parts. Right now I'm working on another truck and being a broke mofo I can't just jump up and get what I need. So suggestions are really appreciated. Sorry to vent here but the ole lady dont care and my son is to young to understand :)

If it ran good before, I wouldn't worry about it. Only thing you could really do is replace the piston and sleeve. Then you might as well do the rod and bearings. If your broke, I say let 'er rip.

I told you about that didn't I ? I replaced it with another clip, it had a light scratch on the exhaust side. It was not bad, and ran fine. I would not have sold you the engine if it did not. Did the same wrist pin clip come out again?

DUDE dont think anything....I remember you told me youtook care of it after i posted that. I'm am sorry that I am just having one hell of a bad streak of luck all at once.. Its no ones fault. But what I am thinking that this was a bad mill on the piston and the spot where that clip goes is bad. WTB WARRANTY.
But just like that MT2 I had, seems no matter what, its not my thing to have anything RC. I was just wondering should I replace the piston and sleave or just call it a day and get out of the hobby? At this point, now after everything I wanna attach the engine to a 4x4 block of wood...drop a fuel line in one of the gallons i just bought...max the idle and see how fast it goes boom. And Yes I know its not the answer and I have not dealt with half as much as others but at this point in time when I need to run for reasons unspoken...its frustrating that I can't poop money turds to fix it LOL :)

Well if my IRS refund comes thru this morning I'll have some stuff to sell. We'll talk business later. Run that engine until it dies, it will go for another gallon or two easy. i ran it for about 1/4 gallon with no wrist pin and never knew it. I bought it from a guy I know, drove it for a bit, opened it up and found the missing wrist pin. He had never opened the engine and told me it had less than a gallon on it. I called Horizon Hobby and told them the deal, and they said "tough poop" basically. That really pissed me off because a 200+ dollar engine should not loose a wrist pin on the first gallon, or the 10th gallon for that matter. They fiddlesticked up and did not back their product. They lost my business over that one permanently.

Well if there is one thing I found out quickly in this hobby....it's be careful what ya buy used. No matter who it comes from.... My first season racing I bought used servos, used Truggy, used engines, used radio, used this, used that....and kept getting pissed off when something different would fail every single week.

I got so fed up, that I sold off pretty much EVERYTHING I had....bought a new radio, new engine, new servos...etc etc etc I did however keep my used chassis. So far so good. I made it through Psycho Nitro Blast a few weeks back with flying colors. My first club race is tomorrow....I'm expecting the same outcome.

These rigs are made to get beat up....so you know.

I don't think anyone would really do much for you after 1 1/4 gallon were run through an engine before a problem was found though Scrogg. Mainly because who knows what the end user did to the engine in that 1 1/4 gallons. It's not like a servo. You can't really beat on a servo under normal conditions. You can however tune your engine incorrectly REALLY easily and turn it into a paper weight. I wouldn't offer any kind of warranty on that either it it were my product.

Now if you opened the box, inspected things and never ran fuel through it....or were still breaking it in when the problem was noticed....then I might be inclined to help you out....but not after break in and after it's been raced.

Just my .02 cents. I don't think Horizon Hobby did you wrong.....it was just too late. HH has AWESOME customer service....

I understand about buying used but something like this tends to happen. I do think they should have honored the product cause thats a manufacter defect. But as it sits its been resealed and is ready for another ride. I'm just gonan keep running with what I got till something comes up. I'm waiting to find out about this other truck and besides why give up my son and I have to much enjoyment being out on the track. Ill keep my eyes open foranything I need and keep going.

Point is Moto that the wrist pin clip was not installed properly or was defective from the start. I did not even notice it while running, nor did the previous owner. It ran great! I just decided to inspect it and low and behold. Aside from that issue the mill was perfectly broken in and clean. Horizon has provided me with excellent service on other products in the past...In fact they warrantied 1 engine 3 different times for me in the past. When I bought the "turd" called the Muggy they sent me tons of clutch parts because they knew they screwed up on the gearing. I just did not understand why they decided this engine was not even worth looking at! That's bad business.

No worries now guys it finally died. Its going to need a piston and cylinder set. I got a good tank through it today then 2 mins on the second she laid down. Fun while it lasted.
