Believe it or not I've actually started work on the MonsterGT! Yesterday I received my GPM diff cases along with the diff collars and Team Associated steering hardware kit. So hopefully tonight I'll have both my front and rear ends complete with RPM A-Arms, RPM Knuckles, Proline 23mm hexs, GPM aluminum diff cases, RC Solutions roll cage or at least the side plates on it, and my transmission bolted back down.

I'll have pictures later tonight as well as maybe an article or two regarding installing some of these parts. I've already posted an article on how to install the FOC kit!

Hey Chief. Watch for the RPm arms as they rub a bit on the ends. You will need to grind em down or they rub.

hey WoodiE, you dont want to mess with that mgt.......so just send it to me and i'll take the trouble off your hands. lol. sence i know i can't have it, i/we want some pics man. lol.

good luck,
mud

I have found one weak link on the MGT.My bud has broke two 2 speed shafts..I recently installed MIP center CVD's and the FT blue chassis on my MGT.MGT's simply rock. You'll have a blast Woodie....

I thought you fixed the MGT last year, what did ya do run it over with your car?

Ok guys I've managed to strip out one of the new diff cases. How hard is it to re-tap a hole for a M3 18mm screw?

BTW, here are some pics of the work...

One thing I really don't like about the GPM diffs is the fact there is no lip to either side of the diff to create some kind of protection against dirt and such getting into the diff as there is with the plastic diff cases. So I've created my own seal using some gasket maker.

This is the diff cleaned up and ready to be installed.

And this is the front end completed with RPM A-arms (which I need to file down because they don't let the arms go all the way down), RPM Knuckles, GPM diff cases, Team Associated alumn steering, and RC Solutions spring steel bumper.

You'll have to tap it the next size bigger.
Put a sheet metal screw in it?
Maybe get a longer screw and put a nut on it? Got room to do something like that?

Good luck with the build bro.

Well I just went ahead and ordered another set along with aluminum rear braces as well. The worse thing about all this is I'll have to wait another week before they parts come in, so tonight I'll work on getting the A-arms and knuckles together.

Well since I managed to screw up my new alumin diff case from GPM work on the MGT had stopped for the last week, however yesterday I received another new GPM alumin diff case for the rear end on the MGT. Got up this morning and I'm believe it or not I'm pretty much done with the MGT now. I've got two things to do yet, ok three things to do.

1. Buy a new Picco .28 engine
2. Buy Spektrum DX3 radio
3. Fix either the RPM arms or the RC Solutions roll age in a manner so I can use the roll cage.

So for now I've got a rolling chassis, which means I'll have this thing up and going soon...well just as soon as a few more paydays come in ;)

Here is where I've already modded the RPM A-Arms, the a-arms have a bumper on them which is supposed to stop the suspension from drooping to much, the problem is it doesn't let the suspension move down much at all. Something I'll need when I'm jumping.

The brakes I'm using is from CrazyNutRacing which is a dual brake setup.

This is the body Candyman painted for me - this is about as much action as this body will see... a shelf.

Here's the hood of the body.

Well that's it for now, hopefully I'll get the rest of this beast finished. I can't wait to get this thing running!!

Looking great WoodiE. Good to see you'll be back and burning nitro in no time at all.

Yeah I can't wait - it's been many many months since I've last burned some nitro!

Look what the UPS man just dropped off about 45mins ago!

 Then it dawned on me, I sold my flywheel, clutchbell, and engine mount with my stock engine. Any recommendations to go along with me new picco 28?

-Michael

A stock mount will work fine or get a Nova mount they are sweet.I would buy a stock flywheel and some Mugen shoes. With the Picco you can run a 18 tooth bell(AE or Ofna) with no problem..

Thanks Markallen - nova's mount doesn't look half bad.

-Michael

No problem bro..I hope you enjoy your MGT..I sure do..FYI.I run 20/46 gears with LRP 28 in my GT..And it still pulls wheelies..

Well I've got a Nova engine mount and a LST2 header and pipe on the way. Along with the the engine has been switched over to a roto-start and has been sealed. Just need shoes, and clutchbell and I think I'm bout done with the truck itself minus radio gear. :D

I thought about a team chassis just couldn't see the point in it for that much change...plus I'm going to try to use RC Solutions roll cage (if I can get it to fit) and the team chassis won't work with it from what I can see.

-Michael

Ok so the truck is now just needing a flywheel and clutchbell...

That's right, even though rent is due I just picked up a Spektrum DX3 radio from an eBay store for $190 new and shipped - bout $60 cheaper then other places I've found and that still doesn't cover shipping. I'm hoping to have it by the end of this week or start of next...it's coming from Cali!

As for the flywheel and clutchbell I'm watching another auction that's got the complete set for about $20 right now after that I'll be ready to break in this Picco 28 and run the MGT for the very first time!
