RC Driving Style
I have an HPI RS4 2. I am also looking for an electric truck that I can use off road.

Has anyone had success converting a touring car to a rally car? I had heard that even if you can make a conversion you shouldn't run on grass?

If you can't run on grass, are there any RC cars or trucks that would be capable of doing this?

I'm looking for something I can drive around the back yard and local parks. Driving on asphault with the RS4 is getting too boring.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

summit, e maxx, e savage, savage flux, slash, sc10, sc8 electric, rustler, stampede, rc10t4, e revo, just to name a few.

yea, what the goofy dude above me said. i wouldnt run 2wd vehicles (rustler, slash 2wd, sc10) in grass over an inch or 2 tall. motors get hot.

What sort of damaged to the underside of the car would you get from a gravel surface

Does anyone know about modifying a nitro touring car into a rally car?

Is that a terrible idea or can it be done?

I breifly read some info about a rally bump and needing larger shocks to increase ground clearance, but is it really that simple?

Longer shock shafts and springs are needed for starters. You'll also want to look at sealing up the belt-drive system to keep out the rocks and debris out of the belts and gears. You'll need to change out tires from slicks to something with more grip. I don't think it's worth it.
