Missing CVD, any ideas?

I am missing the CVD that connects to the front diff for this newly aqquired Buggy.. does anyone know if I can run without it?

I don't mind two wheel drive, but at current the front dogbone cup just spins. Is there a way to use the buggy missing the CVD? If not I will order one if somone could point me in the right direction as to which one I need.

Yes, you can run it without the dog bone. It will be two wheel drive as you mentioned and the diff should transfer all power to the rear.

If you want to replace it, you will have to research the buggy and find the proper CVD to replace it with. Looks like someone named the buggy for you, so that would be a great place to start.

It looks like you have a center diff, so I doubt that you can run without it. The front outdrive will just spin since it's the path of least resistance.

You could run it if you diff locked the center diff (try using the El Pirata special 100K silicone in the center diff).

I know a guy that put silly putty in the rear diff of his maxx. I don't know pros, or cons, but it's locked, I know that.

Don't think I'll try it. What do you think?

You can take the front CVD's, axles or dogbones (which ever it has as long as the wheels are held on by a stub axle or outdrive) out and the diff won't spin anymore until you get the Dogbone you need to fix it.

Silly Putty as a diff locker is not a new trick. It works great but is a mess to clean up should you desire to remove it at a later time.

That might work for the front diff, but buggies come with a center diff also. If this buggy has one, and it looks like it does, then he'd have to lock the center diff.

even if I take those out it still wont go anywhere lol, the fron drive cup/diff just spins and the rear tires don't turn. I searched a few parts houses online, anyone have any idea who online would stock that front shaft, and maybe what I wuld call it so I can find it. All i can find is CVD's for the wheels

I was wonderint can I just lock the front cup in place with a screw? or woould the rear turning, and not the front put a lot of work on the mid-diff?

If you are missing the center line shaft (the one from the mid-differential to the front differential) then you need to lock the mid-diff to get it to move. As Olds correctly pointed out, the mid diff is going to send the power to the area that has least resistance...in this case, the front. Without a front center line shaft, the vehicle will not move as the power is basically going no where.

If you lock up the mid-diff, you should be good to go in two wheel rear drive mode.

Aside from that, give me a moment or two, and I'll see what I can dig up on a replacement.

I'm pretty sure if you lock the front outdrive with something externally, it's going to make the rear spin twice as fast as it should. Don't quote me on that, but I think it's true.

The only way you can "lock" a diff correctly, is by locking the diff mechanism inside the diff, not by externally stopping the outdrive.
