Even CA CHP starts at near to 60K, plus OT after the first year (of hours, no less). CHP is not even the best funded of dept's. OC Sheriff is even higher.

yes, the 25 is for the first 6 months, then increasing to a whopping 30 thousand dollars!!!! i took the tests (scored a 98.4 on the initial eval btw), took the psych exams, etc, and when all was said and done, the pay is what made me walk away...like i said in my first post, it takes 5 years to ALMOST make 60k (59 to be exact)...59 should be starter for being a cop in the city IMHO buuut since finding a job's so tough in the city for alot of college grads (single btw), they have no problem filling the slots with these poor young kids that they stick in the middle of the ghetto with a gun. I'm sorry some of you guys have a hard time believing me but sometime the truth hurts

hey, heres a little something to keep someone busy in case you have the time on your hands....find me a police dept. with decent pay for a decorated service member w/ combat experience, a BS in comp sci, and a small arms expert and i'll gladly help make your neighborhood a safer place...it's not like i or any other former/current service member is trying to strike it rich, but a nice stable 50K sounds fair doesn't it? even 40 will do in most cases....i'll pass the info on to people who would generously pick up the offer(s).

to the mods...i'm in no way, shape, or form trying to solicit anything, I'm just saying if anyone knows of a way to put good service members to use rather than throw them behind a cash register at your local best buy then please lmk as i can pass on the info to those who can use it..if you feel this is inappropriate, then please by all means, delete this post and accept my most humble apology.

Its funny I just read this morning that the starting salary for a suffolk county (long island) Police officer is $57,500..... big diffrence then city cops.... no wonder they are pissed off sometimes.... dodging bullets for the same pay that the guy at home depot is slinging lumber for...... then you wonder why we dont have enough good cops.......

I live in a town with less than 3,000 people in it. It used to have a city police department that I had a buddy who was one of the cops there. He would never tell me what he made a hour, but he told me he would have guranteed that it was within $5 of what I was making at the time (Which was $5.75 a hour). He quit to sell fireplaces if that tells ya anything. Granted there isnt to much going on here in Foley, but it only takes once. Foley also had the biggest meth bust in state history (at the time, which was less than 100 yards from the elementary school btw) Truly sad.
