Yeah that is really bad, But nothing new. When the War first started their were some gangmembers from my town that threw a handgrenade into a tent full of soldeirs, One was arrested the rest discharged and then they beat up a elderly couple, after a romp with police one of them commited suicide.

The worst part Police can't do a damn thing about it. They dont have the training or weaponry to deal with this type of criminal, Becasue citizens dont want their PD's to have that much Military training. They want to be protected but they dont want to pay for it.

I'm kinda suprised they dont do more of a background check on who they decide to let into the military. Most gangbangers will have some sort of a record which will bring there gang ties up.

The supreme court ruled in a home invasion/rape case that the police are not here to protect anyone. So why should they have better training or weapons I ask. If I call them for help and they dont have to show up and help what use are they to begain with?

If you want to be protected then learn to protect yourself...

Oh and if you dont belive me about the ruling Ill look it up again.

"In the case of Castle Rock v. Gonzales, the Supreme Court found that Jessica Gonzales did not have a constitutional right to police protection even in the presence of a restraining order."

Thats some serious bad news for anyone of us in any home town which these gangs might reside in, making the life we live in a little more dangerous day by day, you never know when one of these sucka fish are gonna snap.

40 states are a "Shall Issue" CCW state; Vermont it is legal to conceal carry without a permit if you are a resident. The rest of the states, except one, are "May Issue", such as Cal. I urge everyone in goodstanding with the law who believes in personal protection and owns a HG to consider obtaining their CCW, and if in a "May Issue" state, consider who you are voting for.

True but the Military does have a long career of taking, basically punks and turning their life around, You can go to any soldier Ret. or Active and ask them and most know or are one them selves. I don’t know how many times I have heard a soldier say I was heading down a really dark path but the military change my life, or something to that effect.

All true but, North Hollywood 1997, 9mm Berettas couldn’t do poop to the armored thugs that were robbing a bank with armored piercing and full auto weaponry. No one was their to stop them, Criminals get more advanced and PD's don’t.

And 1500valk, A Restraining Order and a Order For Protection Are 2 different things, It isnt right and it needs to be changed but that is how the law is written.

Revo Rancher that is a Great Idea.

I feel that all people should be responsible for their own safety. I keep a loaded Beretta 96 in my nightstand (no kids ever in my house), and I am willing to use it to defend my wife and I. Everyone should feel the same way, seriously.

1500, if I may, a few tips. Your ideals are right; no kids, keep it handy and loaded. But to the district attorney and a jury you look like a guy who wants to shoot first.

I may be wrong, so forgive me.

In Cal, best options are to have your mag (I have a 96 also) and a qulaity flashlight like a Surefire next to each other, and the HG seperate. Once you put the pieces together, it makes a better self defense argument. You then can argue that you not only to get the HG, but then got a flashlight, and then the mag. By then you realized the threat was real.

Oh, you are correct in California. Indiana, however, is very very liberal when it comes to firearms (liberal, not in the sense of "left"). We have laws passed that say criminals cannot sue homeowners if they get shot perpetrating a crime.
Your concern is warranted, but I also have been shooting since I was 4 (I am now 37). My father and brother are both certified firearms instructors.
I have a very good tactical flashlight in the same drawer for an additional measure of safety. If I resided in CA, I would be storing it differently, but in Indiana, having a shotgun loaded and behind the bedroom door, or an AK, or an AR-15, or anything like that just isn't considered a bad thing in this state. Our DA's and other members of the law enforcement community just look at it from "bad guy A broke into good person B's house, bad guy A got what was coming to him".
We are also a "shall issue" state. With an added bonus: when you get the carry permit, you have it for life (this was just signed into law.), unless you do something that would warrant revoking it. I love my state!

Glock 30 w/ lasermax is now a part of the wallet/keys/phone/gun before leaving the house.....a calico M-950 w/ the flashlight on the barrel is in my bed headboard for those "unexpected" visitors....and if that isn't enough, I have a few other surprises waiting for the friggin scum.......I teach my 9year old daughter about gun safety now an I am Uber strict on that poop......I do not think the police are capable of protecting everyone so I make sure I can do it myself.......this is crap letting gang members join the military....If they are truly doing it to change their lives then that scene of the club w/ military personel waving gang signs should be used to prosecute every one of them for "keepin it real"......there is a time to grow up and realize you only keep bringing that violence back to you if you keep perpetuating the cycle like that........I urge anyone who owns a firearm to take a tactical training course at your local range...and self defense classes in hand to hand combat if you are physically able....

1500, thanks for the info on your state. I will update our site for the CCW permanent license issue.

Plaid, yes, sadly as it sounds, the crap is hitting hte fan. I fear we have only a decade before we see things we have never seen here before; third world actions not ever wanted nor predicted.

Hi all,

That's pretty sad...the individual involved is a POS but here's my $.02. The military DOES perform background checks..problem is, recently, there's a strain on the armed forces which causes some branches to "loosen" their requirements in order to keep personnel levels up. Unfortunately, what that means to everyone is that once in a while, people like those in the video make it through the gates.

And as for the local law enforcement agencies, you should all vote on that, for that is an issue of state government. There are PLENTY of people in the military who honorably serve there country and love the land their fighting for and would love to be police officers, but when state government doesn't allowcate enough funds to their law enforcement operations, you end up in a situation where the ones who have the training don't want to end up living in poverty (i.e. NYPD pay starts at or around 25K a year. Now I dont know about any of you, but having a wife and child, and expected to have a college education, cover housing expenses etc, that doesn't do much). Freedom and safety aren't cheap, everyday it costs us the lives of men and women around the world. I'm sorry for rambling on, but people need to not just listen to what the sponsored news media reports and think that the military is just blindly saying "hey playa' wanna shoot some ill ass guns?" and think more along the lines of "what is more important to my state rep than the security, safety, and well being of the people who put them in office?"

Its funny I just read this morning that the starting salary for a suffolk county (long island) Police officer is $57,500..... big diffrence then city cops.... no wonder they are pissed off sometimes.... dodging bullets for the same pay that the guy at home depot is slinging lumber for...... then you wonder why we dont have enough good cops.......

I can't believe a police officer in NYC starts at 25k...that number has to be an avg of all NYPD employees including the part time station workers and such.....in 96 a friend of mine joined the force and met teh minimum school requirements and made almost 50k starting.....I'm not saying that's great pay for an Officer to make but it's definately a far cry from 25k......

nope...not a guess, not an esimate...it was taken right out of an NYPD candidate info book...i was one of those who entertained the thought of giving up one blue uniform for another...that was the deciding factor for me.

btw..your friend had a decent contract back in 96...but that was 10 years ago. Since then they've been giving all of the new guys the shaft to start w/ less pay. A few months one of the local news agencies did a special on how some new officers were having to file for welfare and other forms of government assistance just to get by.
