Hey everyone, last month I have been researching and I am thinking of getting into MOTOCROSS. My parents might get me a 2003 kawasaki KX100 and I might sell all of my nitro stuff to get some gear and buy gas. But, if I do sell it, This summer imma get another nitro car. So, maybe, maybe not. Post ur .02 cents :alarm: :alarm: :alarm:

Smurfola I would only tell you to get rid of your hobby if you simply can't afford it anymore, have lost interest or are in financial hardship. I have given away my hobby stuff more than once and I still regret it. Later

Good luck with motorcross though should be fun.

Thanks NNF, I think I'm gonna keep the storm, but if I do get my Moto bikee, I cannot get an engine this christmas and it will still...sit on its shelf collecting dust. Well, we win some and lose some, my parents are really thinkin about getting me my own bike. Well, I'm off to school. Later!

If you can get them to gewt you the 125 as you will soon outgrow the 100 and there is really not a 100 class. Most places race 50cc, 80cc, 125cc and 250cc as far as 2 strokes go. I grew up with the brothers Jason and Casey Johnson, Jason raced 250 pro for team Kawi until he broke his back and was never able to return to the sport at tlevel he wanted, but Casey is still racing pro for Team Sobe/Suzuki in the 125cc class. I used to love to go to races with these guys as it was so much fun, ooh and the fine ass woman in the pit area OMG you just wouldn't believe. I used to ride with them a lot although I was never even close to their level of riding.

Well,

I'm assuming by your remarks that your 18 or younger. When I was your age I was more concerned with gettng laid then my rc hobby....lol My intrests in RC now and especially then change from month to month...lol. Unless you need the money... I would definitley put after run oil in the engine/s, lube up everything that needs it and put them away. You'll wanna play with them sooner or later....trust me.

As for Dirtbikes and Motorcross in general. I've been racing all of my young life for fun. I never have nor every will have a desire to race on even an amateur level as I literally can't risk injuiring myself and I'm good but nothing special anyway..lol. I totally agree with Humbolt, if you wanna get into some kind of racing in the future then 125cc is an awesome class. Hell, 125 is my fave and you'd be suprised what you can do on a 125cc stock bike. I'd reco something from Suzuki or Yamaha first and formost. I wouldn't personally run a Kawasaki for a plethora of reasons but to each their own. As for the "pit girls"....let's just say that I'm lucky I don't have VD now..hehe but good luck finding one that's not a bimbo. Just my two cents.

I currently have Suzuki GSX-R (GIX'R) 1000 (use to have a GIXR 750 and that was enough in hind-sight). I'm sellling my insanely fast road rocket after X-mas as I'm tired of my wife bitching about me possibly injuring myself. It's the best high on the planet.

Peace

Well, I was thinking of getting the 100 due to my height and taht its around 1000 dollars cheaper than the 125, and that price is wayyy to high for my parents right now due to buisness and the 100 will most likely fit me better than a 125, and i can't really find a 125 for around 3245 dollars, then I can get a 125. but..I can't, so if any of you guys can then HOORAY!

How tall are you and how much do you weigh?? (roughly)....a 100 is still a great place to start. I'm 6'1" (head to toe) 190lbs and my favorite bike is still the 125cc Suzuki.

You should just pick up a used bike. I got a Honda CR 125 for $700.00. A 100 should be plenty but a 125 would be alot better. Mine is 13 years old and it will throw you off the back if you dont lean forward(i learned from experience). A dirtbike is a lot cheaper to mantain then a nitro car.

I can't, parents wont blast that much cash off at one time due to financial, and would rather pay bit by bit. And, I'm around5'4 5'5 and weigh 100 pounds on the dot.

smurfola you can't get out of a hobby that has very lil females in it. A woman that is in it is cool and hot too!! I am gettin my wife a nitro car yet but not sure which on yet. The Motocross thing is coo and fun but are you sure this is where you want to go? How old are you? you sound young so just like all adolescent kids they go through phases and grow in and out of them . You are already deep in the NITRO hobby. To get out would suck after you realized that you can still have fun with nitro but you realize all your stuff is gone. I had an OLD XXT-CR electric and it sat in my closet forever but I started up again then got into nitro. It is expensive but you give things up and then take them up later.if you have a grip of stuff sell what you know you can deal without but keep the stuff to keep ONE ride always ready for action. Congrats on your new bike when you get it.

Well, i might need to, to buy some gear. But, hopefully I wont. its 50/50 right now, so thanks guys. But, i have been wanting to get into motocross for about 2 years, and decided to get serious so this isnt just a phase. Thx for opinons, and keep em comin guys!

Smurf

Humboldt, can you try and see if you can ask ur friend casey to hook a bro up with a factory direct bike, so maybe it will be cheaper? I'm trying to find a good 125 bike for around 3300 dollars. Someone..HELP!

Yea you should stick with a 100 if you r only 5'5.I m 5'10 and i think my 125 is to big(only because it is my first bike).

I've been in and out of the RC hobby to Road Race motorcycles.

While I wish I still had some of my classic tamiya RCs like the Sand Scorcher and Rough Rider, I'd sell what I had now and not look back. You can use the money now.

I got back into RC back in the mid-eighties. I had just about every type of Electric RC. I got out at about '91 and just got back in to RC about 4 months ago.

I'm glad I sold those vehicles back then cause compared to today's vehicles they wouldn't be competitive and I couldn't sell them for anything cause they aren't quite classics yet, like the Kyosho turbo optima-mid, original RC10, Dominator 4, etc.

I don't know to what degree you'll be involved in Motocross, but road racing motorcycles, cost quite a bit. Our season in Colorado is only 5 to 6 months long. During that season, I spend about 7500 bucks. Thats just in consumables and not the price of the bike or any big crash repairs....
