Helmet goes over the headset, to protect it too.

Really? I don't use a headset. Those things are a pain after about 30 minutes.
When I do use a mic, I use the smaller snowball snowflake model. I've had it a few years and works great!

If you hate headsets, I can understand that, they're not for everybody I suppose. I dropped the coin on a good one years ago, and it's served me well. I also prefer the surround sound headset (Turtle Beach) to external surround sound. Much less wiring is an added bonus.
I run into lots of fools that run no mike & want to message back n forth, really you can plug in an ear bud with mic to a ps4 controller, the PS4 even cons with one.
Or just get a good headset, I shelled out $80 for the PS Gold surround sound set and love them.
