well the title says it :

what do you think is better and why .

have MGT thinking maybe sell and get a savage

tell me what you think..

I own the two baddest trucks they offer. I own the Xl and the 8.0. They're both easy to work on. They are great in stock form but others will disagree. The 8.0 does benefit from a tuned pipe over the stock muffler. The 8.0 does have the better starter design by far and is more durable. For me I'd say it's a push having owned both but the both are far better built than my tmaxx first gen. One thing you should do if you get either truck is to do a seal job on the engines.

i have a savage 25 and a MGT 8.0 with a .28 motor. I would say MGT. Reason being its easier to work on and it don't break very often. Also the MGT will handle any motor ya put on it. Also you don't have to worry about clearance issues fitting motors into a savage. The MGT has all the room in the world.

I'm shocked at both those replies honestly! In my experience the MGT is always shearing tranny pins and breaking body posts. Like to the point where you are changing them multiple times a day when bashing. IMHO the savage series is by far and away waaay stronger and more durable. My brother has an MGT with every rpm upgrade and mod you can think of, with an LRP .28. I have 2 Savages with all stock plastics and both have LRP .28's as well. If he attempts half the jumps I do with my trucks that MGT is done for the day. It's one thing after another all the time. Primarily shearing tranny and CVD pins, and blasting body posts. It also handles way worse.

Well I have an 8.0 MGT roller so that may be a reason. The turnbuckles on the 8.0 are known for breaking. So out of the gate I upgraded to lunsford titanium. The shocks and pins are good so far. I would have to say my Losi LST is as tough as the savage. No knocking the savage. Its a good truck just a pain to work on.

I find that the newer savage's are easier to work on with the new radio box/trans case/bulkhead design. To me, the older savage and t-maxx weren't much different to work on. Either could have been torn completely apart in about 30 minutes with an electric screwdriver and a few bits.

Kind of always wanted a MGT, but never pulled the pin on one. Didn't care for the running of t-maxx sized shocks and having to maintain 8 of them like the maxx.
