new here and i have a brand new monster gt 8.0 i fired it up for the first time and it wouldnt run at first then when it finally did fire it went crazy like it had an air leak and i had to pull the fuel line.... so i took the carb off and cleaned it and the fuel lines with nitro cleaner and compressed air and the i cleaned the tank with mineral spirits and i started it and got it to idle for a sec then it died,so i tryed again and the same results until the motor got warm then it went crazy again like it had an air leak ????????I've followed the manual on the carb setting and put a brand new glow plug in it so idk i hope u guys can give me some ideas

I would seal the engine and there's a sticky on here about this. I have the 8.0 and my starting needle settings were hsn 3 plus turns out/ lsn 5.75 turns out/ mix screw is about flush with the carb body. If the engine is studdering then its probably lean. Also check your radio settings with the electronics on and the engine off. You have to open the carb when adjusting the low and mixture screws or they can alter the other one. Hope this helps, Steve

them are the exact needle settings i used and i set the low speed mixture screw at wot

take your air filter off and see how much the slide is open. it should be open about 2-3mm, and sealing the engine is a must with those

2-3mm is too much after it's running. About 1mm(diameter of a small paper clip) is where it needs to be.

What do you mean you set the low speed mixture screw at wot? Have you read THIS thread yet?
