There has been talk on a lot of forums about the issues peeps have with Revo Springs for their MERV'S - the aftermarket ones being too short and still too soft for running dual packs..i have run into this as well with hanging skid plates and 2 3s packs on the truck and it bottoms easily..i got the set of 3 springs from Liquid RC - and i'm still not happy - even their "black" springs seem to be too short and the truck still bottoms from only a 5 inch drop..not good.. and the adjusters are all the wAY down to get the truck to have enough resistance to jumps....i had seen people post about finding compression springs at their local Ace hardware store...when i went to the 2 stores in my area they had nothing...so i gave up...i happened into my Local True Value hardware store last week for something unrelated...i needed some twine..when i was pointed back to the rolls of rope and twine to look thorugh..to my surprise right next those bins were compression springs! and when i started looking i found the jackpot. 2 sets of springs that are what is needed on the truck...

the specs are easy - the package is 9/16ths X .054 X 1 inch long. these springs are the proper diameter and longer than the stock ones with a little more resistance as you can see from the pics...once i get good pics i'll post them as well..the set of 2 was all of $2 - so 4 springs for $4 max....once i get them on i'm gonna test...but the search can now be expanded to True value stores as well as Ace hardware if you are looking for these compression springs for your MERV...good hunting!

I have been reading alot into the suspension setups on the MERV and it seems that no body can find a good setup for jumping using actual "RC springs"
hopefully they work out for you, keep us posted on what you find
 
yeah with all the extra weight i'm carrying...3 metal skid plates, the t-bone front bumper and 2 lipo 3s packs i bottom out like craxy on almost any jump..i'll get these in this week and hope i have a chance to test and i'll see how it does...
 
it was really a damm lucky find honestly...just had the posts on other forums on my mind when i saw the wall of springs..and i had my MERV with me to compare...blind stupid luck ;)
 
yeah...i still haven't had a chance to get them on and Test....been raining here for days anyway.... :(
 
will do....even though it is raining i might get them on today and drop it a few times to check how they work :)
 
quick update....i got the springs on at lunch but had no chance to test other than dropping it from my usual like 6-10 inch height. Springs fit great...the lowest coil snakes around the cup a bit but it is on there tight and works...the difference can be seen right away - these springs take up the whole shock body length and already have tension...the stock springs have like 1/8th of an inch of free space when the adjuster collars are all the way up..with these new springs they are under tension right away which holds the truck up higher and give you full suspension compression. I dropped the truck from my usual height and to my satisfaction it did not bottom out and hit at all until i went way higher! And this is with the collars all the way up. With the preload collars down even a bit i think it would take a big force to get it to bottom...and when you push the truck down onto the stops it comes almost all the way back up by itself..something i could not get it to do with the stock springs unless the collars were all the way down on max pre-load.

so far...these are doing what i wanted..i'm gonna run it tomorrow and try to see if i can hit some bumps or small jumps to see how it reacts..

Ok..1st test was today...good news 1st....the truck takes jumps MUCH better - doesn't bottom almost at all....and even though the springs are a tad bigger in diameter they stayed on the shocks completely, and that incuded jumps and high speed 11.1v 3S fun and rollovers and thrashing in general...from that standpoint the springs are what i was looking for..but of course the one negative is with the stiffer springs..it hooks and rolls easier...the truck stays up high even under power so no squatting and the CoG stays up...it resists roll enough that one good high speed cutting turn and it is on it's roof...but this is the only drawback i see..if you are gonna bash and want to take some bigger jumps then these are the ticket you have been looking for...they are staying on the truck for good...will the truck still bottom? yeah it will..but you can go higher now for sure...hope this helps someone!
