I'm hoping everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day! Got a chance to do some racing yesterday, which was nice! Good day for it, overall!
I'm asking everyone that reads this to take just a minute to thank the women and men who served our country for their dedication. I'm not insinuating that it needs to be a formal, lengthy ceremony. Just a small gesture of remembrance.
Last year I took my son to a local cemetery to show him the graves of servicemen and women simply to show him that it is important that we take just a moment to remember and thank them. As we walked around looking at the headstones and noting those that had served in the various wars, we came across a stone that appeared no one was tending to. His name is William Adams and he was a Private in WWII. My son and I decided we would "adopt" Pvt. Adams and this year we returned with a couple small American flags and a handmade sign my son drew that we laminated and mounted on a few popsicle sticks. I also brought my little girls as well and she picked a few flowers to lay at his stone as well. The three of us spent maybe five minutes brushing the leaves and stuff away from the stone, we thanks Pvt. Adams and headed home. On our way, both my kids asked if we could come back another day with soap and water to really clean his stone, bring some potting soil and small flowers and really make his stone look nice. Made me very proud of both of them.
Anyway, I hope all of you enjoy the day!
