Haha, you guys are right. Today I ran my ZX-5 BL on a dyno and the next thing I know I smelt something burning. I turned of my car and the battery connector was super hot. The thing melted! Haha. Anyways, will dean plugs melt?

I did the same thing with my mamba. No deans will not melt. I have deans on my Mamba 7700

Awesome. If it'll work on a Mamba, it'll work on a Sidewinder! Castle rocks! Anyways, I'll make sure my LHS has the ultras first.

If they don't have them at the LHS (which they should; everyone and their cousin uses Deans), then you shouldn't feel afraid to order the hong kong specials. They're the exact same as the Ultras, minus the packaging.

Alright, so this is what my Dean plug looks like (From the front. The soldering tips are on the back). Which tip do I solder the red to and the black to? Appreciate some pictures.

The horizontal is Negative i think and the vertical is positive. It doesn't REALLY matter as long as you do it the same on all batts and your esc. But i think thats the standard

I felt like that post should have been in slow motion as he soldered his plugs at his computer desk it just popped up.

No oh, I'm doing that tomorrow. And I was talking about the colors of the wire.

No I wasn't, I solder in the garage. Anyways, thanks again! I've always just soldered a red wire to a red wire and black to black, but I never knew which was positive and which was negative.

No no haha I wasn't accusing you of starting soldering I was saying I knew you were talking about the color of the wires.

Oh okay. For some reason I thought you were talking about something totally different in your post that says "Red is + Black is -", but I realize now that was the information that I needed, and for some reason I asked again. Haha sorry if I confused you.

If you look really closely at the flat tabs (the longer tabs with the silver springs are the contacts; don't solder onto those), you'll see that they are marked for polarity. Usually, the horizontal one is the negative.

You'll have to check, or wait for someone who knows for sure, but there's a preferred way of soldering the connectors so that anyone can use another charger or charge another batt, and the connections are always the same. NEVER solder the male pins on a battery where they can contact metal and short out.
