I am in the process of building my Prospec, (its my first Mugen) and was stunned to discover that unlike most kits the diffs didnt have bearings for the output shafts. They just have steel collars, and even though I did my very best I now have a very slight weeping of diff oil.
Do they have a habit of leaking or have I done something wrong?

On my MBX5 Prospec, there is no bearing inside the diff. There's a bronze-type bushing. There is also an O-ring (S5) that you place inside the diff to seal it up. Now, there are two 8x16mm bearings that the entire diff assembly ride on in the carriers/diff cases. Perhaps those are the bearings you're thinking of?

I haven't had mine leak a drop in over two years, and I'm too lazy to rebuild my diffs.

If you're concerned about leakage, perhaps put a thin coat of grease on the diff output shafts before putting them into the diff cup/gear.
