Some guys like the Mayhem and other guys don't. I really like mine except for one thing. 3 of the 4 shocks in my car have started leaking all of a sudden. All the oil just ran out of the shocks the night before I went to the track. The Mayhem was just jiggling down the track that day because it had no oil in the shocks! I've run about 2 gallons through the buggy; I would have thouht the seals would have lasted longer.

So, I need to make a decision. Should I rebuild the stock shocks and hope they don't start leading again or should I buy some aftermarket shocks. And if I do, what's a good set to get.

I run on a short, bumpy track with lots of sharp turns if that matters any in purchasing shocks...

the Mayhem shocks are made to the best of standards
rebuild them, parts are cheap afterall
make sure you put some GS boots on them

If you buy the rubber boots that protect the shaft from getting dirt on it then that will help prevent thm from getting damaged. That is what I have on my X5 and UE shocks for the savage.

just opened mine at the rear after 1 gallon

not a drop missing, no coloring at all, no wear
first class
I notice I put some mbx5 boots onto it...

gonna try some real 2 X 1.5 conical holes I made up, with a 3th flat 1.5 hole added, using 50 Wt/650
real bumpy track...

I've bent like 8 of the rear and 4 of the front shock shafts. I broke one last week two minutes before the first race without even going off any jumps. The shafts seem to be really weak to me. When mine leaked, I found that the shafts were bent slightly. Check that first. Save yourself some headache, buy the Mugen rear shock shafts. They last longer and are the same size. I haven't tried the fronts yet. I compared them and the Mugen's are like a mm or two shorter. I'll probably try them when I break the next front shaft. Remember, when you fill 'em, tighten the cap slowly to allow ALL of the excess oil to come out. Oh, and as far as the boots go, buy some twisty balloons at a party store. They do just fine and you get like 100 of them for $6.

yaekes
I did many bad jumps landing onto the front/rear arms before I opened these
and bend none
hope it stays that way
would the titan nitrited rods be stronger, you think
I think those titan nitrited items are just like painted and crap

I got 13T nitr. clutch and saw no difference on the contrary with that colour you seem to notice more wear
