I charge everything up, and I'm trying to just get the motor to spin and turn without fuel before I try the real deal. And it doesn't. I'm using ez start. Should I just go to pull start? Any Any ideas why it's not workin here?
Thanks

Ok we can try to help you. But first we need a little more info.
Is it a brand new engine?

Ok, I bought it new about 2 years ago, used it for a few months then put it away for about a year and a half. Been taking it apart and to oil and make sure it's not all gummed up in the past week or two before attempting to start it. Still not attempting it with fuel. Just want the engine to spin first. I'm trying to get back into this hobby. Feeling pretty apathetic about it at this point. Nothing I try will return good results. Any help is much appreciated.

what do the lights do on the ez start wand when you press the button?? do both lights light up??

That is a good question also can you turn it over by hand?
The reason i ask is because it will act that ay if it is stuck at TDC.

lol i was going to ask that too but wanted to eliminate the ez start first!! great minds think alike ay lol

go pull start MUCH EISIER and while you have the EZ off clean the one way bearing if stuck at TDC take the cooling head off and gently push on the piston untill it moves then try turning the engine over if nothing go to the pull start and try again. if you need a video on how to do this let me know Thanx Nathan

i wouldnt advise to take your engine apart just yet. try to eliminate easier problems first. besides taking the head off the engine to reveal the piston leaves it vunerable to dust and dirt getting in and ruining your engine, so if it does come to this then make sure you are careful where you do it and use something soft like the suspension tool to knock down the piston..

using this flat edge at the bottom making sure its flush with the top of the piston and using something with a bit of weight to gently knock the piston out of TDC

True true.

You could also use a pencil the eraser end. Just make sure your turning the flywheel while your pushing. You could spry it with WD-40 before pushing also. But like stated before only do this if need be try by hand first.

i would personally use the nitro fuel as it contains the propper oil also afterwards clean it with some fuel too, to wash away any grit or dirt. better to be safe than sorry ay??

Ok. Lots of ideas here. What happens is: I'm not using the blue cord on ez start, using glow stick. When pushing the button it gives no lights. Yes, motor will turn manually. Thanks for all the replies and feedback.

if your adament that the battery is fine and fully charged the first thing to check is that all wiring is ok, connections on motor and the ez start connection. if in doubt you could buy a new wiring harness for a couple of bucks. next cheapest thing you could eliminate is the motor. not sure how you would actually check if this is broke but not much to replace. the other thing i can think of is the wand itself

Is it common at all that these batteries can become faulty? Perhaps switching to pull start could eliminate these problems...How do you know when your motor is spent?

It is possible but i have never ad it happen to me . Like stated check the wire. The 90 deg. angle sometimes breaks on the red wire so i would check that also.

Ok thanks. I will check for that. However, it will sometimes attempt to turn, not even a 1/4 turn. But usually just kind of click, no turn at all.

It's either the wand or a bad connection. Ditch the ez start if you wish; you have a list of names to chew out when your cord breaks on a sunny weekend day. If you use the ez start for what it was intended; not clearing a flooded engine, starting a TUNED engine, not cranking on it for 5 minutes at a time, ect... then there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Some people just prefer to do things the hard way.

PLUS 1 on that
