Until i got the new r/c car mag, i was positive i was gonna get a t-maxx 2.5...but then i saw the terra crusher w/ all the new era hop ups on it:chassis braces, aluminum bumpers, aftermarket shocks, the cooling head, the big tube header...it looks really sweet. i like that fact that it's a 1/8 scale, the t-maxx being a 1/10. Can anyone help me w/ my paradox, what are the ups and downs of both cars. One fact which really made me lean over was that "skinny" said it was indeed a very durable car. HELP! I'm STUMPED!!:( :( :(

Who the heck is "skinny" and what is he smokin'? The T-Maxx is by far the better beast. The TC lacks for aftermarket support. The only other MT that I'm thinking might give the T a run for its money is the new HPI Savage. I'll let you know what I think after I get my hands on one.

If you want a play by play comparison, I can't provide one. I can give you all you want to know about the T-Maxx and a lot of hearsay on the TC. But I'll save you some time...buy the T-Maxx.

is the t-maxx durable? can it really take a beating? whats the top speed?

The T-Maxx is very durable and when you upgrade to better parts it becomes even more durable.

Something you should understand though...RCs break. When you drive an off road RC and you drive it hard, stuff will get broken. That is part of the hobby. The other part is the repair and improvement of your RC so the same stuff doesn't break regularly.

As for speed....out of the box the "old" T can do about 30-35 mph. That is with optimal conditions and a properly broken in and tuned engine. The 2.5 T-Maxx can do about 40 mph out of the box...with the same conditions listed above.

The final thing to note is something you are already taking advantage of...this forum. We are all RC modelers in here. We all started out where you are now. We have all got experiences that can be pulled from to help you. All you've got to do is keep on asking...

Ditto to Skymaxx's comments. I'll add one more critical thing.

There's a quick but steep learning curve to driving Nitro R/C's. I broke more stuff in the first two weeks of driving my very first Nitro R/C (T-Maxx) than I have in the last YEAR of driving it.

Take it EASY at first...don't try any jumping at first. Practice braking, turning and braking, etc., gradually learn the limits of yourself and the machine. Do this in a wide open area! Not the street in front of your house. Curbs, mailboxes and parked (sometimes moving ones too) cars are the biggest offenders to newbie Nitro R/C drivers!

Don't try to show off with it until you've gotten the hang of it either...nothing like a brand new T-Maxx, just broken in, slamming into a mailbox and disentegrating before your eyes just because you had to show it off - major egg on your face.

I'm not saying to go out and drive like granny for weeks on end...just use a little common sense and get to know your machine before you start getting fancy with it. A T-Maxx in skilled hands is an amazing sight to see! A new T-Maxx wrapped around your mailbox is like - DOUBLE DOH!

Ditto what Sky and Retread said. Take it from me, don't just say how can I break the best, that's what I do on a daily basis. The one think you might want to think about would be doing a little suspension work because it's not whether you pop a cap off the stock shocks, it's when.

I still would recommend a Savage 21, just from what I have seen of it.

umm guys, i been in this hobby for 11 years. i might just, I MEAN MAYBE, know something about r/c :) i already have a kyosho mad force, this will be my second mt. some of you know i have just about every 1/8 scale buggy out there. anyways, thanks so much for the help. i wuv ya lots:p t maxx 2.5 it is. i plan to bash the living hell outta this thang. but 1st, ima put all the bling bling on it. to make ot more durable. again, thanks for all the help.:D

The way the original question was posed, you came off as new to the hobby. Sorry to give you the newbie treatment. Now I know better. Good luck with the T-Maxx. Get some pics once you've bling blinged it.

Happy Maxxin' :D
