i got parts tonight to fix my rear diff on my t maxx, and i though i did everything right. when i spin one tire the other spins opposite and when i roll two wheels (front or rear) the others spin. but when i put all 4 tires on the ground, the truck locks up. it won't go foward or backwards. what did i do wrong. and what do i need to do to fix it.

It sounds like you could of installed your diff the wrong way... my friend had this happen and I think that was the cause. put the truck on the ground and lift the back end up ( so two wheels are on the ground) and push it and look to see the your read tires are spinning the opposite way the front tires are spinning... If it is they you installed your diff the wrong way.
If it still dont move I dont know what it wrong

Dougc is right! Look at the screw heads on the diff case. They should be facing the right in the rear and on the left up front when looking from the rear of the truck. If they are both on the same side the problem you are having is going to happen. All you need to do it take out the rear diff and flip it over.

We call this as a "Push-me, Pull-you". :p:
Its happened to most of us at one time or another.

As mentioned above, just flip the case over and call it a day.

thanks guys, that is what i figured was wrong so i fliped last night, and now it works like a champ. just wish the weather would warm up so i can go riding.

U live in ALASKA !!!!!! that must suck, But isnt winter comin' up so u wont be able 2 drive 2 spring right ???

yeah, it does suck being so cold, i think i am gonna be done til spring after today. it is way to cold my hands were freezing. the engine stayed nice and cool though

It's never happened to me, so I guess the rest of you are just idiots.
I've only had to rebuild a diff one time. Obviously, I just got lucky.

When anything has a 50/50 chance, there's a 97% chance that you'll take the wrong 50.

Anyway, 47.3% of all statistics are made up.

Try putting a sock or something over the cooling head and dont cut windows out of the bodies, run some Odonnels it will let the engine run a little hotter.
If all else fails run it in the kitchen.... :devious:

The first time I took off my diffs, I put them both on backwards and ran the damn truck up my leg when I started it... How was I supposed to know???? My xxx-nt didn't have that kind of diff!

Stupid instructions.
